Our regular leauge ends at the end of October. We are considering adding a class to the line-up and would like to get some input from others and also if we have interest of participation.
The new class will be will be the "Tactical Class". Firing will still be on NRA 600 yard F-Class targets. The equipment rules are as follows.

Open to any caliber up to .35
Maximum barrel length 26"
No muzzle breaks ( this is still undecided if we can have a sound barrier to isolate these shooters
from the rest we may allow)
Maximum scope power 25x
No single shot receivers ( must be blind or detachable magazine)
Shot from a bipod with 2 folding legs
Rear bag must be round bags or socks and or gloved fist
Maximum weight with bipod 16.5 lbs

Ok let me hear some feedback and sugestions from everyone. This will give the competitors with tactical and varmint rigs a competitive class to shoot in with out going against full blown open rigs
and specialty F/TR guns.

I like the way this is going. A tactical rifle would still be useful as a hunting rifle under certain circumstances. Many of the off-the-shelf rifles could allow more people to shoot. Don't know if that's where you're heading though. Bottom line is: it could level the playing field.

Yes that was the purpose to have a class that someone with a factory rifle can come out and be competitive with a dual purpose type rifle. After the match in October we are going to change our course of fire to 15 shots for record instead of 20. This will serve 2 puposes one to keep from heating rifles up and the national records are based on a 15 shot string.
By the way looking at the NRA competition web site I found something interesting
The Open 600 yard 15 shot record is 149 7x 2 shooters are tied for this
The F/TR 600 yard 15 shot record is 149 8x 1 shooter has the record
 maybe I should have went back with a .308

It is pretty much left up to the clubs hosting the events but the national records are for 10 and 15 shot strings. We will have 3 strings fired so the number of shots in a match will still be pretty much the same.

That is one of the things that is interesting to me about the records. You would think there would be some 150's with X's
being the decider. My thinking was to go with the 15 shot strings that way we could have shooters qualify for the records. I know there are requirements from the NRA to have a official Referee but I am working on that.

I would build one for this class. I havent shot F class at the burns range, but I used to in LA. I like this because I want to shoot off a bipod and bag but dont want to be limited to 308 or 223...and dont always want to shoot open.
