All this talk of the 6.8 reminded me I hadn't taken it out of the safe this season. Been using my father-in-law's Winchestesr Model 100 carbine made in 1965 in .308 he left me when he passed years ago to kill my biggest buck to date late last year plus a smaller buck and a couple of does.
Remembering the satisfaction of shooting deer with a single shot I have been using my "primitive weapon" Contender 44Mag. No luck yet this year, passed on small bucks and does.
tonight I got out the original 6.8 mm REM barrel I bought several years ago after giving the first one to my grandson. I know the scope is on, I shot it to check last week. Gonna shoot some hornady 120gr SST's and try and drop a nice 11 point that has been eluding us. Change guns, change your luck, right?
