Glock 43 and XDs 9mm, fun in the woods

Well, the Wife and I got out and went shooting yesterday. She had her XDs 9mm and I had my new Glock 43, 9mm. I also brought the Browning Buckmark .22LR.

We had a couple of twelve packs of diet soft drinks and they made entertaining reactive targets. So much so that she said she wanted to buy some just for shooting. It was a lot of fun.

I really enjoyed the Glock, my smallish hands find it to be a nice comfortable size and it shoots comfortably. I had thought that the recoil may be a little much in such a small package but it was no problem at all. The Wife likes it but greatly prefers her XDs.

Like any new Glock, the sights are pitiful and have got to go. I have no problem with the trigger and will likely not change it anytime soon. I will say that I find the Glock 43 is more fun to shoot than my Glock 27, which is almost as fun to shoot as my Glock 22.

The sights and greater heft make the XDs a superior range pistol, IMO, and that goes double for my Wife. She greatly prefers the XDs and is happy with it. She was hell on those cans.

Compared to the other two the old Browning felt like a heavy toy. The Wife squeezed off a round before getting on target because of how much lighter the trigger is on it. Strangely I didn't enjoy shooting it as much as I once did. I actually missed feeling the substantial bark of a real weapon. I do, however, feel like I could, with some patience, easily take a squirrel with it and that would be hard to say about the little 9mms.

Given the cheapness, and availability, of 9mm I believe that it'll be what I focus on stocking up. Maybe one day .22LR will be readily available but in the meantime...

All in all it was a good day!!!

Sounds like a fun day. I was shooting most everyday with my Ruger 22/45. I need to get back at it. I always drank the cokes first, may need to try some full.

I learned when I was a kid that if you shake up a soft drink, Tabs in that case, you can shoot it with a BB pistol and it'll blow up like a bomb. So, if you do bother to shoot full ones. Shake them up first, you won't be disappointed.

I highly recommend orange sodas. Don't know why, but that orange just looks cool exploding.

When I was teaching my son to shoot I would take balloons put a little baby powder in them, blow them up, and staple the tied end to a stick that fit my target holder. Made taking the time to line up the shoots more fun for him when it would pop and puff.

I will have to try that next. Wonder if they make purple, that my daughters favorite color. :)

Home Depot has it in violet. You could mix blue and red to get purple if you wanted to get it to a dark purple for her.

Think I'll have to remember that for my grandson.

Rig, you could always tape to paper plates together, and put the chalk inside them. ;)

LOL, think I'd rather see the pop and puff. Paper plates are to dangerous to try and tape them together.

A shaken up drink can works great, but I still say the best, safe, home made exploding target is to leave a jar of pickle juice out in the sun for a few days. Works great if you have a place where you can shoot glass. And it smells like pickles. What more could you want?

Got my Pearce +1 extensions yesterday.
Gun Firearm Trigger Hand Airsoft gun

They're slightly longer than the magazine with the factory finger extension and feel way better, to my hand. I like the looks of them as well.

I also ordered two sets of the Magguts today. I'll have an update later on if/how well they work with the Pearce extensions. If they don't work in tandem I'll probably just install them in one mag, with the flat baseplate (better for pocket carry) and have the Pearce extension on the other. If they do work together, as I hope, so much the better 8 +1 sounds nice.

Sights will next on my "to do" list.

I've been reading, on GlockTalk where they are saying that the Pearce, or other +1 base pads, will not work in conjunction with the Magguts kit.

I'm thinking I'll still try it but assuming that they are right, I'll just order two more flush base plate magazines and have four 7 round magazines for my little pistol.
