So I bought a Glock 26 for concealed carry. This is my first Glock and I have only shot them a few times. The trigger pull on the Glock 26 seems to me to be pretty light and not that much travel for the trigger. This is kind of worrying me because I bought a leather inside-the-waistband holster and, this may sound silly, but I am scared of carrying the gun with a round in the chamber and I go to sit down in a chair or something and next thing I know I have a hole in my leg and bleeding everywhere. Just want some suggestions from those who carry Glocks and are familiar with them.

Also, I read the owners manual for the Glock and I did not really find much concerning ammunition. Is the Glock 26 rated for +p ammo?

Thanks.
Kevin

I own a G26 and several other Glocks.

I share your concern about carrying a double action only gun with one in the pipe. Many Glock owners scoff but I just like a hammer on a gun I carry.

In fact, I really prefer a revolver with a hammer. They are simpler and you don't have all of that slide/ejection stuff to worry about. They ALWAYS go bang, but only when you see the hammer come back. And you always have second strike on another round capability if you hear that terrible "CLICK".

Yeah, they only hold 5 rounds, but I figure that's enough.

To each his own.

I have the older brother to yours, the 19, and I carry it every day. They are wonderful handguns. I carry it chambered with a full magazine, and after a few hours I got used to it. As I told my fil the other day, the time it takes to pull it and chamber a round could mean life or death. When its chambered, you just draw and pull the trigger.

You'll love the glock.

Use a well made holster and you'll be fine. If it makes you more comfortable, wear it around the house unloaded awhile til you get used to it. Leave it unloaded, but cocked as it would be when you carried it. After a few days check it and you'll see that it is still cocked and did not "go off".

On another note, use this unloaded time at home to practice drawing and reholstering it. Practice with a cover garment, like you wear everyday. The most AD's I've read about with Glocks is during reholstering. Something gets caught in the trigger guard and the trigger is pulled. Also, don't do a Plaxico! :lol3:

I pocket carry my Glock 26 in the De Santis nemesis, Keltec PF9 in UM size4 pocket holster, sometimes Beretta 21a in UM size1 pocket holster. I wear bib overalls most of the time, and it works for me. Always make sure your holster covers your firearms trigger, and keep your finger away from the trigger until your ready to fire any weapon.
