I've seen this on a couple other forums and really like the idea. Basically, post up good deals that you have found while shopping on the web or in the "real world." No advertising stuff for sale - there's a For Sale forum for that. Just point your fellow gun owners to deals that may be of interest to them.

I'll start with an example:

At the Gulfport Gun Show (Lyman Community Center) this weekend - Apr 8 & 9, 2017
There's a new company out of Hattiesburg called Mississippi Brass, selling "remanufactured ammo". They've got a table at the gun show. What caught my attention, he's selling 8 lb jugs of Hi-Skor 700X powder for $100. Considering Midway price is $143, NOT INCLUDING shipping/HAZMAT fee, it seemed like a good deal.

I went for the S&W .380 Bodyguard instead!
Still not a bad deal after the $50 rebate.
[And, I got free shipping on it!]
e-Commerce

More Shield45's out of the warehouse ... at $339.99 before MIR.

Funny how that worked (they were priced there at $299.99 on 04/01/2017)...

Any experience with buying from the "Bone Frog Gun Club" before? I've never heard of them before.

The sight was recommended to me by a forum buddy who had used them. He's LE and apparently some folks told him about the sight.

I just shot a bunch of the HST ammo yesterday. Its good looking ammo and it shot very well. I ordered through the BoneFrog website and the ammo showed up a few days later. No issues whatsoever... I think I got 200 each of the 124 +P and 147 +P. I plan to order more from BoneFrog.

Went back and checked my emails. Looks like I ordered on the 23rd and it shipped the same day and showed up on the 30th. Igot to 6 emails about my order including 2 shipped emails, a "out for delivery", and a "delivered" e-mail. 6 total emails after I placed my order.

Here's what's pretty crazy... I placed my order at 4:40 PM and it still shipped out the same day! They may be in California or somewhere like that but still that's pretty impressive.

According to their contact info their warehouse is in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thanks for the feedback on buying experiences.

Ruger announces complete AR lower receivers, now shipping

The AR-Lower Elite is built from the same hard-coat-anodized, CNC-machined, 7075-T6-forged lower receiver as Ruger’s AR-556. The unit is fully assembled to include the pivot and takedown pins, bolt catch, magazine release, trigger guard, mil-spec buffer tube, buffer and spring. All shooters need to add is a mil-spec upper receiver assembly.

The lower boasts the Ruger Elite 452 AR-Trigger as well as a Magpul MOE SL stock and MOE grip. The Carbine buttstock features a six-position telescoping design allowing the rife to be properly sized for different shooters or varying levels of gear or outerwear. The MOE pistol grip touts an ergonomic design with extended trigger reach for greater trigger control. The trigger itself is outfitted with a 4.5-pound pull with a 30 percent faster lock time over standard ARs.

Measuring between 15.63 and 19 inches in length, the AR Lower-Elite is available for purchase from Ruger for $299.

Ruger has been on fire this week. Not a great price, but not awful either, I'm sure they'll retail for <$250. I wish they'd gone with the magpul SL grip to match the stock. I much prefer it over the MOE, but anything other than the standard a2 grip is a plus.

Smoky Mountains Guns and Ammo in TN has brand new S&W Model 642 (Centennial style) J-frames, aluminum frame, stainless cylinder and barrel, 14.6oz, rated for .38spl +P, and NO INTERNAL LOCK for $339 with free shipping. Cheaper than a Ruger LCR.

Smoky Mountain Guns & Ammo - S&W 103810 M642 Airweight Internal Hammer No Lock 38 Spl 1.87" 5rd Syn Grip SS

I had heard that S&W was making the J's without locks again, but hadn't seen them for sale.

So much win. One possible advantage to these is that since they're not a .357, they are a bit shorter and the butt may not protrude out of jeans pocket in a pocket holster like a J-frame .357, like the 640, can. I figure the catfish may need a new toy.

S&W page on it:

Model 642 No Internal Lock | Smith & Wesson

:eek:Wake up Cliff! New no lock S&W J-frame for reasonable :D
Max... I'm awake!!!... :)

and you got my attention with this one!!!

That Model 642 as you show at $339 is a great price... Bud's normally retails this one (the "no lock" 642) for a price closer to $389 currently...

S&W M642 5RD 38SP +P 1.87

And your $339 price from Smoky Mountain Guns & Ammo is actually closer to Bud's LEO discount pricing on this particular S&W J-frame.

There's also a "no lock" Model 442 available from S&W... along with one or two more "Centennial" J-frame versions as I've seen on S&W's site.

These are concurrent production with the "side lock" version pistols... still making those. With that side lock it's a 642-2 and a 442-2 version. Sans the side lock... these Centennial J-frames are stamped as 642-1 and 442-1 versions.

Such has been offered by S&W since at least 2011 as I've seen... and continues today in production...

In the photo above, the Model 642-1 showing dates from 2012. The Model 442-1 is from 2016. Both are, of course, Centennial "no lock" J-frames. The "Bodyguard" Model 638-3 J-frame with the side lock is also from 2016. (Actual manufacturing dates on these could be several months earlier.) Sadly, all three were recently lost in yet another tragic boating accident during an unforeseen tropical storm on the Rez... :(

Max, as far as I know, the frames on the current .38 Special J-frame models are the same length as the frames on the current .357 Magnum J-frame models. That was one of S&W's engineering and production changes that occurred in recent years. All J-frames were slightly "lengthened" to one common dimension... regardless of caliber... e.g. - the older Model 640 Centennial .38 Special has a slightly shorter frame length than the current Model 640 Centennial .357 Magnum... but S&W did this to all J-frames. So actual barrel length and the grips fitted would be the only factors contributing to a difference in overall length.

Anybody know why S&W ARs are several hundred dollars cheaper than the competition?

Volume merchandising? Or what?
volume is definitely the reason...max to manufacture including liability is lesss than $150!!!
We all love free stuff ..Amazing how a little laginape makes us happy
