Good Deals Thread

I've seen this on a couple other forums and really like the idea. Basically, post up good deals that you have found while shopping on the web or in the "real world." No advertising stuff for sale - there's a For Sale forum for that. Just point your fellow gun owners to deals that may be of interest to them.

I'll start with an example:

At least I now know what a closed ear is...I'm learning.
Done ordered one....

Ha nice. I'm trying to find way to order one or two more.
^^^ This is another reason I want my own FFL01^^^
Even if I tacked on an extra $30 for transfer, there's a limit of one, so the FFL holder will want it.

Yep learn something new everyday. Works good for locking down in vehicle
Why yes it is. Going to use it for my 6.8 upper I'm building. I have spider lowers. Rekon I need a horse lower to go with my spiders.

is it a limit of 1 per buyer or transfer er ?
One per address.
You could make a new login on their site and ship it to your ffl.....

Yeah I was thinking about that if shipping address is different than what's on license. My FFL usually doesn't compare I don't think. Doesn't matter what my shipping address is as it's shipped to FFL. The billing address is the same though. Going to ask my FFL tomorrow when pick up a gun

Stopped by a local pawn shop near my house today, just to see if they had anything new and exciting. This is a store I have purchased from in the past - never transfers, just items from their stock. While chatting with the employee, he mentions they charge $50 for transfers. $50 DOLLARS.

That $29 Anderson lower just jumped to $79 - not counting tax / shipping. Not such a great deal for the little guy anymore. Heck, I can buy 'em stripped from a local guy I met on Armslist for $85 with no 4473.
The places I use here charge $25. $50 is a ripoff.

Yes it is Sandy. You'd think they would like to get your business rather than run you to the cheaper guy down the street.

Agreed. I would love to get $25 for 5 mins of work.

If the local shop had a $29 lower in stock (or for that matter, even $39 or $49), I would gladly purchase from them. The lowest RETAIL price that I've found LOCALLY for a stripped lower is $79.

I know, right?. $50 bucks, for basically sending an email (FFL), signing for a FedEx package, and handing me a 4473. I have a CCW, so no background check is even needed.

One of my managers from academy told me he paid $65 for one somewhere around here. Can't recall where though. He thought the $40 fee at academy was a steal.
Stop and think logically for just a minute. A brick and morter store has overhead such as power bills, employees, and a myrad host of other profit draining bills as well as being limited to the quantity they can buy from wholesalers putting a cap on their discounts. If all they have to make a profit on is 4473's then they will use it rather than go under. Where transfers used to be looked at as a courtesy they are becoming looked at as a business to make money and unless you have an FFL you will do 1 of 3 things, 1. you will either pay the price that a store charges, 2. or pay the price and jump through the hoops to have your own FFL or 3 you will quit buying guns. As more and more stores are closing due to money losses only those who are big enough to stay in business will be all that is left and then they will charge what they need to stay in business and you will pay or do without and that is the economics of it in a nutshell.

I understand what you're saying, Sum. I worked for a brick & mortar music store for years, and it was even harder on us - because no FFL or other license is needed to buy a guitar online. Anybody can do it. Also, you don't need a dedicated supplier, such as Palmetto, Anderson, etc. - guitars are available everywhere from Amazon to Overstock, and everywhere in between. Folks would come in and PLAY ours, then pull out their smartphones, and order the same model from Amazon, etc. for the same wholesale price that WE paid for them.

It just seems like there ought to be some kind of break for a guy who has a HISTORY of purchasing from your store . . . AND . . . is purchasing something that you don't have or don't carry.
