ha maybe this isnt the right section for this, but I figured its as good as any

I was at Gander Mountain today, just goofing around between my class that ended at 3:15 and my next one that started at 5. Got to the gun section, and like usual, i started at the knife rack on the right. and noticed the pepper spray and such, and noticed that had a whole rack full of the Kimber Pepper Blasters.

Now, normally, I don't buy much from Gander, due to the fact that they charge absolute MSRP 99% of the time. But i'd been looking at and researching these for a few months for the Fiance, because she's always hollerin about how she needs some pepper spray, but when I'd offer to buy some she'd fuss because none of it is very cheap. So since these were the same price as EVERYWHERE else I've looked, at least if you include shipping, I grabbed 2 of them.

I grabbed one for her to keep with her at jones for when she's going to night classes at least, and walking back and forth to the gym.

and since I figured those stupid liberals in House Committee B probably won't pass SB 2469, so I can conceal carry on campus, I went ahead and grabbed one for me too!!

They feel a bit like a SC Glock in your hand. I picked the II model, because it has a short grip, and sights, whereas the original has neither.

Shoots 90mph, and has an effective range of 13ft, which isnt great, but its about as far as I'd want to try to shoot something so rudimentary. Supposedly it doesnt have the risk of blow back, or being affected by the wind. and has a safety of sorts, a small thin white piece that you flip to the side in front of the trigger to put the pepper blaster into fire mode.

First thing she wanted to do was go out back and try it out....but at $40 a pop, i dont think so! I might invest in a couple of the training units they make w/ the blue dye instead of OC, just so she can get the feel for it. its a good thing she didnt have it this morning, because she found where my roommate's fiance had tracked in dog crap and hadnt cleaned it up....pretty sure she would have been waiting to snipe him with it when he got home!

Its not perfect, but when it comes to being able to protect myself, and giving my fiance the same option, since our awesome govt probably wont do their jobs and make it legal for me to do so in a more conventional way, I suppose these will do!

I pocket carried mine to class today, and really it looked like a cell phone, it was about the same size as my iPhone4 in its Otterbox Defender case. But if i cant find a specific holster for it of some kind, then I'll just try out a few pocket holsters on it.

I have fairly small hands, so it'll fit everyone a bit differently.

And these are just for size comparison

hahaha nah...that really is what it reminds me of......ha better make sure she doesnt let one of her nieces or nephews go through her purse!

i called that white piece a safety, but its more of a guard i believe......i'm not gonna press the trigger to find out though!!!

i did just find out that kimber has a small cordura pouch for this model, which would probably work well in her purse.

and the blue dye models....are still $40!!! if she really wants to try it out then i'll just let her use the real thing in my mom's backyard since she's off in the country-ish and i'll go buy another one! that way i dont have to pay for shipping too!!!!

Not this model. There is a much larger "jpx jet blaster" or something that uses a double barrel cartridge that you can reload. But going off Kimber and the pepper blaster's website Kimber has all but discontinued them. They are sold out of the last model they had in their store and have no replacement cartridges except for the training dyes.

That model also used to be a couple hundred $$ or so. Now the one they're sold out of is down to like $115 I think so it looks like they were clearing em out. I wouldve loved one of those, except it's as big as a regular pistol and wider too
