(Added by Captain-03: Guys I split this discussion from the original thread - Who is a member of CRPC - hope you don't min -- continue your discussion here)

I was until they raised the dues from one year to the next 100%. I am sure it phased out the ones who can't justify the $200 yearly dues because they don't have the opportunity to shoot several times a week. I really hate it too as I loved being a member and shooting there. I know several other past members who are not any more for the same reason.

I will probally join once we move or rejoin pascagoula dcm, otherwise I have a range here in my yard. Heard it was nice but I am trying to figure out the whole silencers are prohibited thing in their rules so thats a definite no for me until I can confirm otherwise that I can use them there.

25. Automatic weapons may be fired on the range with a class 3 license
and a club officer observing only. No silencers authorized

you have to have a club officer watch you while you shoot a mg? Oh its a tax stamp not a license unles you are a ffl with a SOT...

Yea, I don't know if I'M going to rejoin again. $200 is getting a little steep. I have made suggestions but they don't want to here it. It's really a club for the $10,000 a gun skeet shooters. Them and the high dollar .22 shooters seem to run everything.

The use of Silencers are PERMITTED at CRPC. But before you can use these devices you must submit to the board your request for each weapon that will accept the device. You must also be 'checked off' by the club's safety officer. Your membership badge will be an-noted that you're authorized to use silencers on the range after being 'checked off'. That part in the paragraph concerning full-auto weapons must be out of date because I verified that silencers are allowed, and I've seen them used a few times personally.

Wow I guess that's a no on joining then. I didnt pay a few thousand in tax stamps to get anal probed when I want to shoot a suppressed toy. Besides then they would know about every weapon I own since they are all silenced or have the capability.

Me too.

After reading the post about having to have suppressed weapons approved by a board, and doubling of the yearly dues to $200 a year at CRPC, I'm glad I passed.

The longer distance range & fact that it's deserted on weekdays makes PSC worth the drive to me.

I would like to say that before you dismiss CRPC as a potential range you should contact someone on the board via email and get a definite answer from the people who run the place. My information comes from asking someone about it over a year ago so don't base your decision not to join solely on my comment.

Now regarding the cost of membership let me just say this.
I know 200 dollars might be pretty steep for membership but I rationalize it like this. I spend nearly 200 dollars every month in fuel alone, almost 600 dollars every 6 months for car insurance. I spend over 200 dollars a year just for satellite radio accounts. So I don't feel that 200 dollars a year for membership is that much to ask for when its a very nice range with a club house, bathroom facilities, multiple covered lanes, with more lanes being added all the time, and being allowed to bring 2 guests with me at any time.

Just my two cents.

My issue with the increase is that I wasn't going to receive any more benefits for the $200 than I was already getting for the $100:thinking:

That is exactly why I do not want to pay $200 to go shoot my gun a few times a year. I would tell anyone if the $200 isn't an issue with them then I recommend the CRPR as it is a very nice range, not $200 per year nice but nice. For $200 per year fees I just expect a lot nicer and fancier range for the money.

I never was a member pre $200 fees so I don't have that issue going for me wanting to know what my extra 100 dollars gets me. I had no idea that the range wasn't anything else other than 200.

I agree if you're only going to go out there to sight in or an occasional cleaning the dust out of the guns 200 dollars isn't worth it. I go there as often as I can. I work and play in that area and if the weather permits I always try to go there and shoot a little after work and spend longer times on my days off. I try to make it worth my money.

I just figure if I have to spend 200 bucks on gas every couple of months then surely I could spend 200 bucks for a whole year's membership.

What would you consider "a lot nicer and fancier range" for the money?

I have been a member for only one year so the $200 is also not a problem for me. I go at least once a week and have seen some significant improvements in areas other than skeet/trap. Driving to Pascagoula would cost me more at half the price for membership there. That being said, if you can only get there a few times during the year( or you just want to sight in for the season) it's high.

Pascagoula dcm for example, no skeet range, but 50-1000 yd range, covered bathrooms with showers, future new club house, keyed gate, no non member days all weapons allowed - 50bmg $100 a yr.

Even if I joined either range the distance is around 2hrs round trip from my house now, however if I moved then joining one of them would be feasable as I would be closer and not have a personal range here.

Nicer bathrooms, cleaner range all around, better seats at shooting benches, something besides a utility shed for a club house. Don't get me wrong, I truly loved shooting there when I was a member and the folks I had the opportunity to meet and mingle with were all first class and I think it is a nice range. I also understand there has to be price increases eventually to keep up with inflation and Ins costs, etc, but a 100% price increase from one year to the next to me was a bit extreme and makes me suspect there were more motives behind that kind of increase than to just create more revenue.

SJ,

Every time I've been there the restrooms were pretty sanitary and well stocked with tp, soap etc. so I guess they should throw in showers and a locker room? I always thought the club house was suitable afterall DCM uses an old rail car for theirs. They are in the process of building more restrooms and a park style pavillion down by the south ranges. They've built brand new skeet lanes and have replaced all of the chairs at each range so there are better chairs now.

They just laid the concrete slab for the newest pistol range and put the frame work up for the roof. And a whole new range just south of that is being built. Every couple of months it seems like they're adding something new or expanding.

I don't know what the extra 100 dollars is going towards but my guess would be that it's all laid out in the meeting minutes on the website.

Spanky,

full membership fees are $200/yr. There are no usage charges beyond that unless you use the clubs clay targets which are $2 a round (round being 20 clay targets), otherwise you're not charged anything extra. They have an automatic gate with a keypad so you don't have to get out to go through the gate, you can bring 2 guests any time you like. Unlike some clubs who allow you to bring a guest once a year and beyond that get charged a fee for guest usage.

That's a big draw to me because I always enjoy bringing a friend out there. We can shoot and shoot and shoot some more as many times as we like and it doesn't cost anything extra to use the range.

I am a board member at CRPC and will gladly answer any questions you have. I also run the 3 gun match.

A couple off the bat...

Suppressors are allowed, I have one myself. All you have to do is show the safety officer your stamp and let him check the serial number and your good to go. This is primarily to keep people from shooting home made ones.

Automatic weapons are not allowed unless you have a board member present. I personally disagree with that, and have voted against it, but there you go.

As to the price, this was decided upon by the membership. I'm a guy that could care less if I shoot in a rock pit, but the membership decided they liked the improvements and we keep improving. I spend way more on ammo than I do the membership.

Let me know if there is anything else.
