Found a good deal on a true classic: Smith & Wesson Model 39-2. Shows some wear on muzzle and triggerguard from the original S & W holster it has lived in for many years. Hardly a mark on the blued mag, so shot very little most likely. Many have said that no pistol feels better in the hand than a model 39, I think they may be right. The icing on the cake was that it was a private sale.

That's a nice looking Smith. One that was made back when S&W cared about making a quality piece that didn't look so generic. You're accumilating quite a nice collection of S&W pistols. Shame it's growing so fast, because I sure was hoping to get that CS9 back someday. I put the cash up the day we talked about it and it's been there since. I suspect I may need to look for one elsewhere now. That's OK, though, because I like to see nice collections put together, especially down here where S&W doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves. Maybe I'll find a stainless model this time around.:) I almost posted a while back about selling one and regretting it, but I didn't figure it would be interesting to anyone but me, so thought better of it.

They're still listed as an out of stock item at Bud's, but I don't hold much hope of them ever getting any more. I believe they're listed as LE only, so the only way I'd ever be able to get my hands on one would be if they closed the last ones out for S&W. I'd sure love to have a NIB one, though.:)

Anyways, I like the one you just got. Be sure and let us know what kind of shooter it turns out to be. Should be a nice one. Is that model decocker only? Never handled one that was.

Good snag Steve. You either bought it out the aisle or on Saturday. I went Sunday and didn't see it. I didn't see anyone else there with a MSGO shirt but I did see a member not wearing his, won't mention his name but his initials are JoeS. Didn't see a whiff of a fair deal.

First thing Saturday, actually got there at 8, only to discover they didn't open until 9. I was in my "civvies" anyway, had to go to work. If I'm looking for something I never find it, so I just keep an open mind. I'm sure you're curious: $300 OTD with original S&W brand holster, one mag, no box. I'm happy! Oh, no govt. paperwork either.

Nice pistol. The Model 39 has always been one of my favorite Smith autos. $300 otd is a great price, I have not seen one for less than $400-450 at a gunshow in years.
