Did not know that. What are the differences in the Armalite and others?

Well I checked my local gun store to be sure what I've read about the mag differences are true. Looks like every manufacture of 308 ar platform rifles use different mags.
DPMS and armalite look the same by looking at the magwells but the armalite is a slight bit more narrow. I haven't compared mags side by side just lowers. Rock river seems to be a reversed dpms. As on ar15 mags the guide slot is on the rear of the magwell(I call it the guide slot not sure on the real term) the dpms and armalite look like an ar15 but the slot seems to be on the front of the rock river arms lower. Take in mind this was a very brief comparison one at a time not side by side.

This is why, along with a couple of other things, that I haven't been able to make up my mind on an .308 AR variant. Armalite & DPMS use one mag, Bushmaster uses another and I think Rock River is different from those. The other thing that keeps me from making a firm decision is that you cannot mix and match lowers and uppers like you can on the AR-15 platform. If you think you will ever want a variety in uppers, DPMS is the way to go but I hear and read about more issues with feeding from DPMS. It's mostly mag related stuff and fixable. Armalite seems to have the best reoccurring quality but considerably less in terms of options. For me, it's going to require a lot of thought and lately I've been giving a lot of thought to saving my pennies and getting an FN SCAR Heavy!
