Name's Steve (obviously)
I'm not new to guns, have been around them my whole life, but I've taken a much keener interest in firearms, firearm safety, training and ccw in the past year or so. Don't know if it's because my place was broken into a couple years back, or I'm just getting older and read the news more than I ever did before. It seems to me the crime, assaults, home invasions etc. are hitting closer to home. I don't want to be one of those folks who becomes familiar with firearms and home protection after the fact. Up till the last year or so, my shotgun was propped in the corner, covered in dust and hadn't been fired in years. Same with my 9mm. Now I've changed course and am in the process of learning as much as I can about ccw (applied Feb. 1st) and everything related.
I have a Rem 870 Express Magnum, a Thompson Hawken .50, a couple of cheapo autoloaders and my latest acquisition, a Springfield stainless mil-spec. I've only put a couple hundred rounds through it so far, and am still in the process of getting used to handling it safely, and shooting it accurately. Whats most disturbing is the price of ammo, holy $%@! I had no idea. I'm looking around the web now to find some deals.
I also collect guitars, have too many, play music, mostly classic rock, have been in and out of bands ever since high school, though I never "made it", I can hold my own pretty good. I'm also a gearhead, love fast cars, have a 1984 Camaro 350 police and a 1989 Fox Mustang coupe with a pretty radical 302, I figure she'll do the quarter in the mid 12s.... will hopefully find out soon, I'm still working on getting it ready for the strip.
Anyway, glad to be here, thanks to FatJohn at THR for sending me here :hi:
