RRA great choice, I don't hunt with mine either.

The .223 is capable with the right bullet, I think the shortcoming is on the butt end of the weapon.

I hope to know for sure this fall. But, where I will hunt with mine is 125 max! Most deer I have taken there were between 60 and 110.

We have killed deer out to 350yds with a M4 profile .223.
Limitation is goin to be your skill of accuracy.


Lemme know when you wanna test it out, i have anywhere from 5yds to 2700yds to shoot.

The .223 loses the optimum foot pounds(1000) at around 100yds. I'm not saying you can't do it. Got a buddy's little girl that kills all her deer with one. If you keep it around 100 you should be fine.

We were using XM193 55gr FMJs too..
hit them in the vitals and they go down.

Have you tried any of the solids? I've heard really good things about Barnes 70-grain. I keep hearing good things, and the reviews here are really good...
