O.K.! My boss asked if I would do some handloading for him, if he paid for the materials? And naturaly I said sure! So I loaded him up about 100 rounds for his .308 & some for his sons 7mm/08. Well he gave me a LORCIN
.9mm jammamatic special. He said it jams about every other round.

Being it was FREE. And he being my boss. It was a nice of him to offer it to me. I didn't want to hurt his feelings by saying it was a P.O.S. So I took it.

Can anybody help me out with any advise on what I can do to correct the problem with the weapon? It would probly make a decent truck gun. Or just a project to piddle with.

It's the mag or follower that's 90% of the problem with them being called jam-o-matics. I'll leave the POS part for others to discuss.

Not really that hard to get them to go bang everytime.

First, check the follower. How does it sit in the mag? You are looking for a slight nose up. Level or slightly down is bad ju ju. Adjusting the feed lips corrects the problem.

Second, spring tension. Does it fell soft compared to what you are use to with other weapons? Place a [one] loaded round in the mag, press down on the nose of the round and see where it comes to rest.

Third, is mag lockup. Is it locking up high enough for feeding the round correctly.

Test the weapon [after the above checks] to see what type of jam it's doing. Like a 3 point jam or other. Do not clear the jam without looking carefully to see what it's actually doing.

Non-pistol knowing friend wanted to go cheap and got one. Went out shooting and it jammed so much, he unloaded so some kid wouldn't come across it then he turned around and threw it as far as he could into the weeds.

I'd give BeauBeaux's idea's some thought. I tried to get a friends girlfriends's Lorcin to go but only got it slightly better. I would have told her to ditch it but it was from her father and I didn't want to tell her Dad had gave her a POS but told her instead to get a revolver and use that as a BUG.

Their .22's were not much better, when they stop jamming, the magizine base flys off. If that is not enough, chamber loaded indicator breaks off after about a dozen rounds (did I mention this was a .22?). Oh and the slide developed a nice crack across the the lower section of the ejection port.
SERIOUS P.O.S.
I doubt it would be much use as a fishing anchor either.

I vote for putting in the time to get it to function. Then sell it or keep it.
Gets my vote!!

1. Video camera on tripod
2. Duct tape gun to solid object and aim video camera (from a safe distance)
3. Run a 50' string to the trigger
4. Press two fired .22 slugs into muzzle with steel rod
5. Carefully chamber a round
6. Start video camera
7. Go to end of string and pull trigger remotely
8. Post the video here

Well I tinkered with the LORCIN this past weekend. The back edges of the feed lips on the mag was burred up from the slide hitting. So I just cleaned the burrs up and used a marker to blacken the dammaged area. That way I could see if it was still striking the feed lips hard. After that I filled the mag with some FMJ's I had in a ziploc bag(assorted brands) and let'er eat. After running 3 mags through it without any jams I was happy. So I filled the mag with some HP's (assorted brands). Well the first 2 shots did fine. But it jammed on the 3rd shot. The shell was jammed at the ramp. So I cleared it. And fired another round. Same thing.
Went back to FMJ's and wala! No problems!
So This will be a good plinker for the range. I won't bet my life on it that's for sure!

There are some self defense rounds that have an FMJ profile. One I remember had a single buck shot ball in the nose. Seems like another was Glaser Safety Slugs. Do some research on it! Or, just have you a fun, cheap plinker.
