There's no proof of that.
Well of course he was I'm sure Doyle fact checked it.

Besides anyone who has stood against the Feds when they thought they was wrong is a criminal to the Democrats. We all know the powers to be, have never been guilty of corruption and wrong doing.

That's all been debunked and discredited.
You mean his letter to the government to the IRS stating that he refused to pay taxes was a fake? You mean that his shootout with US Marshals was a fake? What part of his life story was "debunked"?

I’ve been googling to see who the first two were. Granted the Wikipedia articles are probably at least someone left leaning I’m still not seeing “heroes”.

Gordon Khal - seems to have been a bit of a nut, part of a right wing group called Posse Comitatus and died in a shootout with government agents in 1983.

Jack McLamb - from what I can gather was also a bit of a nut but not a harmful one.

Mark Furman - a cop that got slandered and screwed over by O.J.’s defense team.

Randy Weaver - a poor bastard that had his life destroyed by the evil ATF.

I sure don’t think I’d call any of theses guys “heroes” but I reserve the term for a tiny group a people. Folks seem to use the term far too loosely these days. Calling all veterans, cops, nurses, or even teachers heroes. Sure some are but most aren’t.

It was all faked and misinterpreted

Sworn testimony is no more credible than sworn affidavits.

An unnotarized letter is no more credible than actual video.

Then there's prima facie violation of state election law.

Understand, it's a goose and gander thing.

Refusing to pay taxes is only "illegal" because we've bought into the lie that we're required to legally speaking. I could dig through some papers at home and give you exact articles, regulations, and etc which prove all taxation from the IRS is indeed theft as we never officially ratified the IRS in Congress. They were a post civil war emergency effort to levy funds to pay for war reparations. The government, per their norm like having disposable income and never ceased it. It was never voted on and still to this day has not been. But, nevermind that by the letter of law it's illegal, should you take it to court you can best bet they won't even want to hear the case.

Having a shootout with Federal Marshals could be stemming from a number of things. How many times have "no knock warrants" been served on the wrong home and a home owner defends themselves? Not saying that's what happened in his case but a refusal to pay taxes because they are indeed illegal, especially when you have proof, and you're threatened with violence if you don't bend over and take it is not wholly wrong.

Overall though, no I don't believe he is a "hero". I believe he was a man who stuck to his beliefs and principles so hard it cost him his life and alas he did not have others who felt the same to go with him or stand with him as that could have made a difference in the outcome.
