Got a "project" 12 Ga shotgun from Joe S. a few months ago.

It was a little beat up...long 28 inch barrel

I made a home defense gun out of it.

Barrel has been cut down to 18.5 inches...

Green and Black T'ed high viz red fiber optic front site added

wish I had the before photos......

Though chambered for 3 inch shells...I'm gonna load her with some 2 inch 12 Ga #6's....yeah you read right...2 inch shells...light recoil...no over penetration issues...can stuff more in the pipe...wife can handle it as well.

Nice work 'Neck. Where you finding those 2" shells. Watched a show the other night on the outdoor channel that suggested bird shot was the superior to slugs or buck for a home defense load.

I think #4 and #6 are about the best loads for "indoor" use

Can't seem to locate #4 in a 2 inch shell however...will go with #6

Was reading up on these little dudes. My sister just won a Winchester 1300 ( $10 raffle ticket) and wants to load it up to keep in her bedroom. I wanna try some of those Mini-slugs in my Colt pump...just to see how they fly.

I'm having to sell a few to raise cash myself......seen my "thinning the herd" threads?....



Billy does the coating work and recommended I try the 2 inch shells....I had planned to put an extended magazine tube on that baby but the way Mossberg "designed" it...the vent rib barrel and the tube are joined...so the only way to put an extended tube on is to buy another barrel as well....that was more than I wanted to drop on the project gun.

DOnt ever put on more than a plus 1 extension. Gunsites' gunsmith says it can cause issues with the shotgun...just learn to reload fast.
