AR_15, mil.spec.mag. Can you leave/store 20 rounds in a 30 round mag for extended periods of time without damage to the spring? How long?

Some national gun test magazine (the paper kind) tested loaded magazines that had been stored for years and saw no problem.

They concluded that was just another concern dreamed up by somebody,
