As I understand it from my engineer friends, the steel in the springs is worn out by use (loading and unloading - can't remember the term they used) and is not significantly deteriorated by being left stored at capacity. I leave my filled.

AR_15, mil.spec.mag. Can you leave/store 20 rounds in a 30 round mag for extended periods of time without damage to the spring? How long?
