How did you choose your carry caliber, and what rationale did you apply to your decision making process?
Sure this has been talked about before but why not talk about it again?

I wanted a slim, single stack gun that concealed easily. I felt a smaller gun would have too much recoil in .40 or .45 so, in my mind, that left the 9mm or .380. Of those two, I felt the 9mm was the better choice.

I went with the smallest 9 mm I had that I could shoot well. Works for me.

I chose 9mm for affordable ammo and reduced recoil considering the small size of the firearm. Newer defensive loads have greatly increased its effectiveness as well.
    I also have a CZ 75 in 40sw and a 1911 Officer in 45acp that I carry on occasion.

I like power and full sized guns have never bothered me to carry! For years I mostly carried a 4" .357 Magnum (first Ruger, later S&W) or one of several 1911 .45's I owned. Now I most often carry a Charter Bulldog Stainless .44 Special, occasionally changing to the M-66 S&W, a simi-custom 1911 Stainless, or a M-24 S&W 4" .44 Special whenever the whim hits me. The Charter that I carry most was a present from my wife, so it will always be around and often carried.

I found some charts that cross referenced defensive shootings, calibers used, and how many shots it took for the bad guy to take the room temperature challenge. And discovered all pistols from .380 all the way to .357 caused a one shot stop about 25 or 30 percent of the time and bought a .40 sw because I felt it to be a good "compromise" if you will.

I also carry a .45 sometimes because shooting twice is silly.

I opt for a Ruger LCP due to dress code restrictions and consistency. It’s just the easiest thing to carry, it’s in the same spot no matter what and it’s reliable. May not be the most effective caliber, but it’ll have to do.

I used to do the whole “carry rotation” thing and got over it. I enjoy carry size guns, but my tastes are constantly changing, so when I decide I want something different, they’re usually the first thing to go, since I carry the LCP 100% of the time anyway.

    It's in .380 I assume?
Dead is dead jake if you shoot a fellow in his face or chest area with a .380 I doubt he's gonna stand there and laugh at it.

Or a 7 5/8" Ruger .44 mag in a shoulder holster. Depends on where I'm going and who I think might be there

Lol because I can and it's a hoot to shoot. I don't carry it often, but do on occasion. Best present besides the boy that the ex gave me.
