what method of concealment do you use? where do you carry in order to print the least? what do you carry? why?

i carry my 1911 in a don hume IWB but im trying to find the "sweet spot" that doesnt print so much. so far about "4 o'clock" is working pretty well and right where my levi's tag thing is on the waistband is too but its harder to reach.

Any suggestions/stories/pictures/recipes? hell theyre all welcome. im trying to figure this stuff out before i get my CCW and scare some little old lady in the grocery store...and i thought it may make a good thread

I used to carry my 1911 in a Crossbreed Supertuck in the 0400 position. But it is a PITA to get to, especially when seated. Plus, when you sit down in a chair, like at a restaraunt, it hangs on the back of the chair or hits against it.

I normally carry my XD in a Blackhawk serpa rig on my right side. Ijust wear a shirt long enough to cover it. A normal lenght T shirt will just about totally cover it. Sometimes an inch of the holster is visible, but O well. Most people are not observant enough to notice that.

When its hot, IWB w/t-shirt tucked and oversize short sleeve untucked, unbuttoned and covering the handgun.
that is how i do it almost all the time, unless i am working out, then it is in my thunderwear...

i am hot natured, so i dare not wear something that makes me have to keep a jacket on at all times. and a vest just isnt me... that would be the giveaway right there. :D

1911 bobtail commander in a Milt Sparks VM-2 at about the 4:30 position. That is my go to setup and I wear it about 99% of the time; rain or shine; hot or cold. Every now and then; maybe when I just running around the corner or something I will stuff a LC9 in my pocket; thats about it

Guys: you do realize this thread is about 10 yrs old; but carry is still carry.
Generally, strong side 3-4 IWB, occasionally other methods, depending on scenario.
Yeah it got me. Read few posts before realized it. Was wondering who the OP was and how I missed this thread. This is from way back in the archives

Nice setup.
Thank you. The bobtail makes all the difference in the world and it still a commander so I get full size magazine. Years ago I carried a full size 1911 but then I tried a commander and liked it and never looked back. I do have a 3" 1911 and it's never failed me but still I don't trust it, at least not enough to carry it.

EDIT: The commanders I carry are both light weight frames. Thinking about switching to a steel frame 10mm but haven't made the move yet. Have to see how I like the weight and learn to trust the 10mm.

I once bobtailed myself a full size RIA 1911. Felt great in my hands, almost like carrying a round butt k-frame Smith. Here recently the 1911 has been calling to me and have been thinking about getting a commander size or officer for carry. A light weight frame would be sweet.

I am home bound right now , but I have carried outside a few times.
Looks like I will be carrying strongside left for a while. Hip or under shoulder.

6 o clock IWB

I feel like if someone ever tries to stick me up for my wallet, gives me an excuse to reach behind my back. Also like that it seems more comfortable than appendix.
