i heard you only have to be 18 to buy a blackpowder revolver?
what do you think? i thought it was the same for all handguns, but blackpowder is obviously different.
i saw it on gandermountain.com where it said that all you have to be 18 for blackpowder revolvers. i know that isnt all that reliable, but thats what i wanna discuss.

is there any validity to this statement?

Ditto on both. Also, if you buy cap and ball revolvers mail order, they can be shipped directly to your doorstep.

If you order percussion caps, however, there's a little matter of a very stiff hazardous materials fee to pay, so it's best to find those at gun shows, etc.

My first handgun was a .36 Colt Navy replica which I still shoot sometimes, even after 40 years. Since then I have added several other revolvers to the collection.

They're lots of fun, and they teach you the true value of cleaning your weapons thoroughly. If you don't, you'll end up with a huge pile of rust in only a day or two.
