I know some folks use a ladle to cast with; however, I have found that a bottom our pot is much, much easier and produces better boolits. That is certainly a good price on the Lyman set-up; but, I believe you can go with Lee for the basics for a little less money as a starter ...

Lee is DEFINANTLY the way to go. I have the LEE bottom pour production pot and it is awesome! My "teacher" has a LEE bottom pour he has used for 27 years! LEE also makes good starter moulds in the 2-cavity setup. I do NOT recommend tumble lubing bullets. I used a Lyman 4500 lubrisizer and caranuba wax to lube my boolits. It puts the lube in the grooves, not all over the bullet making a mess, where the lube is most important. If you choose the caranuba wax you will need the heating element to heat up your wax. Happy casting friend

Start with Lee 10 lb pot...I have the 20 and its overkill...it leaks a bit but its no biggie

Get lee moulds to start unless they don't make a mould for the type bullet you wanna shoot. Start with 2 bangers..(double cavity moulds)

I like the lee sizing kits also....if what you are doing is for handgun...its all you need for a while

Go to the dollar store and get wooden spoons etc to flux with...a cast iron pot and some welders gloves from Harbour freight....Corn stick moulds from camping section at bass pro.

A full propane tank and a fish cooker and you are good to go

Do it on the cheap..

Hard part is finding the raw materials....

welcome to the addiction

Hey Sid...

I made (250) 261- 262 Grain 44 Mag bullets yesterday with free range lead in about 2 hrs....now granted I'd spent time earlier melting down the range bullets, fluxing and pouring up the ingots for storage

Still gotta load em up...but commercial 44 Mag ammo is just about a dollar a piece now..

pretty easy to justify...I don't try to justify it actually...

I get a lot of self-satisfaction from it

Many Thanks to my bullet casting mentor.....Captain-03
