I bought a Gerber AR 3.25 about 6 years ago at Wally World as my daily pocket carry. And it's USED daily. I open boxes, strip wire, cut fruit, etc. It's been a GREAT knife but after all this time the rubber inserts in the handles have worn almost off... mainly from riding in the pocket with 2 sets of keys.
I called Gerber asking for replacement handles but she said they were not available and to send it back for a replacement knife. I asked what they would replace it with since that model is discontinued. I was told that I would get a $64 credit ($35 when I bought it) so I guess I'll be ordering a couple of knives from them as soon as I get the credit. And I'm going to be looking for another AR 3.25 too. I'm sure someone has some old stock... for a discount. ;)

I alternate between a Kershaw Leek, and a Gerber Remix, as well as a Gerber FAST Draw.

I'm hard on clips, and requested new clips from Kershaw and Gerber. Kershaw got it right the first time.

Gerber got it wrong the first few. They kept sending me the wrong clips and clips that were poorly fit

However, when I called to complain they sent me a envelope for my 2 knives and replaced both of them. The Remix was about a month old and the FAST Draw was about a year old.

Even though whoever picked out the clips was obviously an idiot, the people at their CS were not.

Well, here's my update.
I'm not as happy as I was and I can't say that I didn't expect something like this. I got the credit in the mail yesterday AND a price list to go with it. The price list has prices that are roughly 1/3 more than the prices they have on their website. Most companies that sell direct from their website sell at MSRP so as not to compete with their dealers so the prices I saw on their website I expected to be MSRP. And the companies that do sell at a discount usually list the MSRP along with their discounted price. Not so with Gerber. The prices on this price list are nowhere to be found on their website. Feels like the old "bait and switch" to me.

So you bought a knife for $35 six years ago, and have used it daily. The company gives you a $64 credit to pick which replacement you want, instead of just sending you one. And your not as happy as you were because their prices are higher for the replacement than on their site. You're still getting your six year old knife replaced for free. Please explain how this is a "bait and switch".

So... YOU took MY bait. LoL I was wondering who would be first to mention that.
Simple... the value of the deal changed after the fact. They offered a list price credit to be used against their items at list price. Then they changed their list price... or actually kept it hidden until after the fact. I don't care if they had offered me a $200 credit or a $10 credit. When the terms are changed AFTER the fact, it's wrong.

I don't agree. But that's what forums are for, right. Because you assumed the value of your credit before receiving the paperwork does not mean they changed the deal. The way I see it as long as you get a knife of equal or greater value for your six year old knife then that is a more than fair deal. Especially since you didnt mention any problem other than it being worn, not broken or defective. No matter the perceived value of said credit.

Yep, it'll just have to be one of those "agree to disagree" threads. :)

At this point I wish that I had just kept the old one and just bought another knife. I've already spent $9 to return my old knife and I can order one of their $64 knives from Amazon for $27.63... including shipping!
