I had the opportunity to sight in a friends 270WSM. It was a super light weight browning Abolt. Pencil thin barrel, rubberized stock. Nice gun.

When I got it dialed in it shot a great .453" 100yard group.

1"high at 100
Dead on at 200
5" low at 300

All in all I'm impressed with this factory gun and its pencil barrel. Granted the MRSP is 1900+ and I don't know what you could get it for in the store but out of the box sub 1/2moa and factory ammo is pretty hard to comeby.

I've always been a rem 700 fan but I may need to give ole Browning another look.

I've always liked Browning products in general and the ones I've had have been good shooters. They are normally on the expensive side but can be found in private sales pretty reasonably. Thin barrels are capable of decent accuracy, especially within a few rounds so that heat doesn't become a factor.

i used to be a browning dealer and now that im not.. simply put your buying a name.. for the money there is way batter guns out there.. my old boss bought a 270wsm stainless stalker and as long as you just shot one or two shots its fine. but when they did a deer culling at their texas ranch after 25 rounds and that barrel heated up he couldnt hit a 32 inch gong at 200 yards... after 400 rounds the throat was gone

My Model 70 in .270 WCF is about 9.2 pounds with the telescope. I can tolerate the recoil it delivers. I had a guy bring a Browning A-Bolt in .270 WSM. I had a bad shoulder and when I fired it, the recoil knocked my shoulder back into place. I would not like to shoot one on a regular basis. I am getting too olde for recoil,

I've been a abolt shooter for a long time. I'm just as impressed now as the day I got it. The barrel us pretty thin but it's not an issue. Exept in rare circumstance you should only need one shot if you're doing it right

I will agree that they are a tad over priced but I won't agree that it's just because of the name. I've owned the abolt, Rem 700, Ruger M77, and Savage. The Browning IMHO is of higher overall quality that the others with the Ruger in a close second. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best value for the money but it is a fine rifle

I know opinions are a lot like butt holes but I'm also beginning to be a fan of the 270 WSM. Doug is right though. Pulling the trigger on that bad boy will get old real quik

higher quality?? mmm

back in the day the brownings and weatherby's were a true gentlemans gun.. elevated to god like status by all those that could never afford one and after the years of saving and working longer hours to finally get one most never had a hand full of rounds down the pipe because they were just to fine... now accountants have basterdized almost every gun company out there. :tears:

FYI "basterdized" is a word lol

Yes, it is. A misspelled word, but a word, nevertheless. Sorry dude, I just couldn't resist. And, I couldn't agree more, by the way.

I had a Browning BBR in .257 Roberts that I chambered for .257 Ackley Improved. The little rifle never ceased to amaze me. Recoil was light enough that my then 13 year old daughter could shoot it and it had plenty of power and accuracy for white tails. The fit and finish of the rifle were better than anything in a comparable price range. Wish I had it back.
