Well, January the 29th, next Saturday, will be the last day for me to hunt. It will be primitive muzzle loader. I will be cold with occasional periods of rain with temps from 26-60 degrees in Prentiss, Mississippi. I will be hunting a stand that is not a long shot, 50yds being my longest, but that is fine since I will be using my single shot 45 cal muzzle loading pistol, with a 285gr cast hollow point bullet, moving 1400fps, with open sights, using a musket cap. One more chance to try and bag a buck this season. I am really looking forward to it considering the long wait I will have before hunting season opens up again.

Sure do hope I run into a buck. If I do I will post pictures. This has been my leanest year in 20yrs of hunting. Only have shot a doe and I want a buck. One reason is that I did not take any hunting trips this year. Next year will be different. :)

It is a custom cut barrel with a 1:18 twist using Triple Seven and real bear grease with paper patch bullets and also some special cast Hollow points. It has actually chronogrpahed across the chrony at 1424fps.

Real nice rig. Not trying to be a buzzkiller, BUT, thought ALL sidearms were outlaweds in PW season, including muzzleloading sidearms. Was I dreaming or when did this change?
It is not a side arm, the barrel is 16". Also, two Game Wardens at two different state leases see and know I use it and they know it is legal.

ok Bullet, did not realize the barrel length. Looked online at MDWFP but could not find the reg reguarding sidearms during primative season. Might have been done away with when they rewrote all the PW laws. Thats still a mighty fine piece. Good luck. Bruce.

Thanks Bruce, I sure hope I see something, because this has been the leanest year in 20yrs of hunting. All I have killed this year was a doe. I hope this last day I hunt will be a good one and I sure hope next year will be better with two trips I have planned. I didn't go on one this year.

Thanks guys, I went to the woods behind my place this afternoon and checked it out. I shot standing free hand and at 50yds put the two rounds on target just 1 1/2" apart from each other. It is ready to go. :) :) :)
