so....my permit should be here either this week or next week, saturday should make 45 days since I applied. I've ordered my belt, beltman quickship 1.5", i have my holster, MSVM2, and I have what i intend to carry as my primary, Kimber Compact CDP II.

that leaves 2 very important items, one I know the answer to, and the other I'm at a loss.

1. a 2nd option to carry. I'm on the hunt for a LCR357 to fill this role, maybe a S&W, but i'm set on the Ruger, unless I just find a killer deal at the gun show this weekend on a Smith.

2. I need a magazine holder/carrier. I'm at a complete loss, this just isnt discussed that much on any forum, and to me it seems vital! I'm not on the hunt for a full custom leather one, a more mass produced example, or something easily found on ebay will be sufficient. I'll get a fancy one later, but i'm looking for something more immediate right now.

I looked at a couple bianchi "cheapos" at the bass pro today, one was leather and the other was kydex, and neither will fit the 1.5" belt that I just ordered, and at that price i wasnt about to take a gamble.

I'm thinking more of a double carrier preferably, I know Galco has some options, not exactly cheap either, but if they're decent thats fine by me. I'm fine w/ leather, kydex or even paper machet if it'll last! i'm just not wanting to place an order through MS or someone and get my mag holders in 6 months! I could even deal w/ a pocket mag carrier for the time being if need be....but i'd rather buy something decent now that'll last.

does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??? any other places that I might look??? is there usually a table or 2 at the gun show that has them? because I've never noticed if there is.
thanks for the help in advance!

... my advise -- do npt get in a hurry!! Try a few things ... the gun show is an excellent place to look and strap on a few ... see how they feel to you before you purchase ... I got holsters, etc sitting here that will never be used -- thought they were what I needed or wanted -- a waste of good money!!

I have found That a "Buck" knife sheath for a folding knife works dandy for a 1911 spare mag holder. Almost everyone wears a knife so it goes unnoticed hanging there on your belt. The double stack mags for the Smith or the Taurus won't quite fit though.

Where are you located?

My mag and XD are covered in lint :D
I carried it for one month without shooting it, decided id "blow the lint out" first shot looked like a dust bomb. It was pretty cool.
Ran thru that mag and my spare mag no problem.

I have the LCR38spl and i carry it some, just not comfy with 5 shots and i can place a shot better with my XD.

I carry a 5rd speed strip in my pocket for the LCR and a spare 9rd mag in my "knife" pocket in my Carharts.

Well my permit came in weds and was technically issued today. I went to the gun show and didn't see a thing as far as mag holders for a 1911 mag....everything else was either too big or too small. So I hit the Alabama ammo booth and grabbed some hollowpoints for a good price.

Then headed to bass pro with my brother and future father in law. Went upstairs and the dad in law wanted a knife, so while standing there I noticed the nylon redhead knife holders and a few other brands. So I pulled the kimpro mag out of my pocket I'd carried to check sizes and it fit almost perfectly. My 8 round Wilson mag will fit even better. So I decided that it will at least get me by until I find a better option. And for $5 I haven't really lost anything. After it outlives it's usefulness as a mag holder, I'll put it to work with one of my multi-tools or something
