I'll start.

Nick stared at me hard with his one good eye and spat. "You cut off the head an' feet. How do I know it ain't a dog?"
I asked Nick, "Do you see a tail on it?".
"No", Nick repied. "But you sure you didn't have a tail on your way here?"
"Of course not. There's no one in this one-horse town capable of tailing me, without me knowing it."
“Then who is that?” Nick inquired, pointing up the road.
The twenty mule team drew the wagon laden with borax closer. A grizzled teamster threw down the traces and jumped down, in a flurry of dust, from the seat to totter before them, weaving unsteadily in a death valley daze. An empty bottle of Sailor Jerry's spiced rum followed his descent and clanked to the ground from the wagon.
Nick grabs the first thing he had close to him…his pepper box pistol he keeps in his pocket just incase..keeping a level head he asked the man…

"Baldwin, mister. Alec Baldwin. He tol' me to keep an eye out for a red headed stranger riding a black stallion. Said he'd shot a woman in another town for tryin' to steal a bay he had with him."...who's the law in this town?

Something about the whole situation didn't sit right with me. Alec Baldwyn? And the red-headed stranger, that could be anybody. Anybody red-headed, that is.

One of the riders rode a white gelding and had a big iron on his hip. The other rider rode a brown mare and carried a double barrel scatter gun.
