I have one M1 Garand. It is a Springfield and I bought it in 2008 at the CMP South Store in Anniston, Alabama. I was in Anniston serving the CMP and USAS as a range officer at Junior Olympic 3 position rifle matches and the Progressive Pistol Match.

I wanted an M1 with original stock and VG bore. I got much more than that for my $595.00. The barrel is the original from the arsenal, the stock is the original and the throat measures a 2 and the muzzle a 1 on the wear gauges.

When I got the rifle home I checked the drawing numbers with my M1 manual. Theyt all matched. That means the rifle is possibly an original from Springfield Arsenal.

I took the rifle to the range and here is the results. I believe the rifle shoots well because the barrel has a slight upward pressure on the forearm. This is how a glass bedded rifle is set up for optimum accuracy. This rifle is not glassed and it is legal for CMP Garand Matches.

Here is the accuracy tests:

Springfield M1 Rifle Mfg 7-55

1. HXP 1963 CMP ball 5 shots in 1.5"
2. LC 1966 .30 M2 ball 5 shots in 2"
3. LC 1974 .30 M2 ball 5 shots in 1.5" (ran out of LC 1972)
4. HXP 1969 CMP ball 5 shots in 2.25"
5. .30-06 reload 168 gr Sierra, LC 74 Match case, 46 gr IMR 4895 and a Federal Match Primer 8 shots in 1.4"

if anyone has gotten one since then post pics. Also SOG has Garands forsale at $495 get them while they last we ordered a few awhile back and I was really impressed.
