Question for all you lever guys. I've been wanting a lever gun (along with a bunch of other stuff). Been toying with CAS, have an Uberti pistol in 45LC and was thinking of getting either a yellow boy or a 1873....thoughts? Also been leaning towards Uberti as the brand.

They're nice. But my favorites are the Marlin 1894 in 44 Magnum and 45 Colt and the 1895 45-70 Guide Gun. I've got the 1895, the others are high on my wish list.

Have you considered Henry? Or does the lack of a receiver loading gate put you off? Prices are about the same.

I've got a couple of '73's but have never handled a '66 so I wasn't sure of what the differences were. Found this link. Not sure about the repos but it looks like the original '66's didn't have a safety to keep it from firing out of battery.

Understand. I had the same back and forth between Henry and Winchester for a couple years before I finally settled on Henry. I do prefer the side eject. I haven't regretted it, and don't find loading thru the tube a deal breaker. I haven't made a speed loader for it yet, but probably will this year. Simple enough to do. Just some plastic tube and something to keep the rnds from falling out. Plans on the web.

Anyway, Henry has a very nice color case hardened carbine that might go well with your revolver. Function/accuracy wise I've never handled a Uberti, so can't compare them, and don't know if Uberti is drilled for scope or other optics. Henry is.

I owned a Rossi 92 prior to shooting SASS (CAS). I bought a Winchester 1873 to shoot matches with. For Revolvers I went with Taylor Deluxe pistols. I haven't shoot many matches but these guns worked very well for me and are just plain fun to shoot at the range.

Was just going to mention, that harleychief stated CAS, adds a element to gun besides just hunt/shoot.

I have an 1894 Marlin-24" octagon barrel chambered in .45 Long Colt. Recent, but pre-Remington manufacture, made in North Haven, "M" stamped. Model 1894CB. (Cowboy Limited))
It was to go with my .410/.45L.C. Howdah. I can PM you pictures if you're interested. It looks brand new, but no box. I bought a box of ammo for it, but never shot it, and it looks like the previous MSGO owner never did either. (No muzzle discoloration)

Patchz, many yrs ago I had a Marlin Carbine in .357. Nice rifle, but sadly some POS SOB wanted it more than me. Stolen out of PU truck at work in South Jackson. One day, hopefully, I will catch a thief. Will not have to worry about him being a repeat offender.
