Get a good book. If you don't have ample time to spend with a mentor this is really the only way to go about it. I learned the basics via Lyman's reloading handbook. Read everything you can get your hands on BEFORE you touch a single piece of hardware. It could save you the hassle and expense of learning things the hard way.
