This looks really fun, but I have a few questions. What class do most people shoot? Do most shooters use a custom rifle or one you can buy from or local sporting shop? What is the most popular brand of rifle used? What brand of rifle is supposedly the most accurate? What brand has the most accessories ( trigger, stock barrel)? I know that's a lot of question so sorry about that... Thanks

First of all...welcome, glad you found us. :hi:

As for your questions, I suggest you read every thread in the 22RF F-class section. Study the match results. Look carefully at the photos. Most answers are there.

Basically, at this point, most anything goes. That's part of the fun of it. Some like Savages, some Rugers, some Kimbers. You'll see fancy front rests, bipods, homemade sandbags.

Come out and shoot a match, or just watch one. If you are short some gear someone will be happy to loan it.

Currently most shooters are shooting the Open Class; mostly because they can use over a 12X scope - gives them the ability to see their shots on target at 100yrds without the use of a spotting scope. However, I do anticipate this changing as we have more folks become involved in the event. Most everyone has a .22LR sitting around the house - pop a scope on it of 12X or less and they are ready to shoot!!

I would suggest you take a look at some of the previous threads that has the match scores listed. Along with the scores is the type rifle, scope, and ammo used. At this point in our progression, only a few are using "custom rifles." There are several Kinber 82Gs and Savages MkII on the firing line.

I would not venture to answer this question - again, look at the match scores and see what everyone is shooting.

I do not know!! One brand wins one match, another brand wins another, and yet another brand wins another!!

For just a commerical rifle - I would say the Ruger 10/22 has the most accessories available - I could be very wrong on this one!!

Where you located? We are going to have a demostration of the 22RF F-Class at the Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Club's Annual Meeting on March 5th -or- certainly feel free to come to a match and ASK all the questions you want. Our guys and gals will gladly help you in any way they can -- bet, most will let you get behind the trigger to give their particular rifle a try!!

Also, please feel free to contact me with any questions you have about the 22RF F-Class matches.

In Sporter Class, you can have a scope greater than 12X. You just can't have it turned up pass 12X. .
Thanks - you are absolutely correct!!

I had a question about that, can you turn it up between shots to spot your shots, then turn back down to shoot? or once you start shooting no adjusting the power?

Last question was thinking of building my son an fclass rifle. Now I thinking of putting together a 22 rf. Can we shoot the same rifle at a competition? It sure would be more cost efficient!

Sorry, I do not really understand the full meaning of your question. However, ANY safe rifle chambered for .22RF can be shot in the .22RF F-Class Match. If it is a custom built gun, it would compete in the Open Class and would be best with a scope magnification of more than 12X.

Here are the rules for our .22RF F-Class --- hope this helps and if not, ask again!!

The 2 relay question is also being discussed in This topic

There are shooters wanting to share guns with thier son (badazl), and some who MAY decide to shoot two guns (my self). Either way we would need open seats on a second or later relay.

I'm hopeing that the relay size is flexable enough to adapt to the shooters needs without being a planning nightmare for the MD.

Even if we can accommadate 20 people we could run fewer so that some shooters can take advantage of a sceond relay. Of course, I don't know how much hastle this would be so I don't know if it is worth the effort.

I can accept the decision if it is unreasonable to do this just so one person can shoot two guns, but we should go out of our way to make it possable for two people to shoot one gun.

If the match is moving to the center range, you'll be able to accommodate 20 in one relay.
Yep, you can bunch up people more so than with the highpower rifle matches. We have to have space in between shooters in order to cut down on the chance of getting a hot .30-06 case on your back, arm, leg, etc. . Had a nice red mark of one on my arms for a few days after a match one time :affraid:

Captain and 1 discussed the shooter spacing. The firing points will be on 3' centers. WAIT before you start bitching about being so close.....

Remember 2 things.... First, the gear stays on the line. And second, shooting 2 relays at once. The setup will be Relay 1 is on odd numbered points and Relay 2 is on even numbered points. Therefore, when you are actually shooting, there will be 6' between the shooters.

Yes, that means the targets will be on 3' centers, but they will have 2 different colored target numbers. One color for each relay.

That's a good idea. What's the thinking on COF as to scoring targets, etc. Relay 1 shoots, then Relay 2 shoots, then both go down and score? Upside is match would run quick, downside is more target stands to build, store, setup & take down.
