The rifles were ordered by the Columbian Navy and manufactured by Dutch Idustrie Syndikat (Madsen) in 1957-58. When the Dutch went to complete the order, the Columbians refused to take them. They were sold on the surplus market in the USA by Interarms. They were all new when sold the first time.
