Alrightt 1st complaint on new XDM. But 1st off my right hand has had some nerve damage and I only have about 80% feeling in my thumb and index finger and both are weak due to musle loss. I have a problem pushing the mag release with those 2 fingers but I then tried it with my left hand and it is really tight and very hard to push. So question can you lighten the mag release and extend it out a little?
Thanks for the help in advance

This is strange...Is this a NEW XDM or a new to you XDM

what size backstrap do you have in...the smallest one feels the best to me...small hands

Not sure I have any other suggestions cept to take it to a smith or send it to Canyon Creek Customs and get all the quirks out...It will be right when you get it back from there

the release on my Subcompact and service is a lil stiff with a fully loaded mag but its manageable. Empty mag it still has some decent pressure on it but it releases easy..

Ive loaded and reloaded mine so much the mag release and mags are polished where they engage.. :D

Brand new one. Neck I'm gonna check on canyon creek.

XD would it make a difference if the mag was loaded or not? I wouldn't think it would effect the release button.
Yes, with a fully loaded mag the mag spring pressure is adding to the stiffness of the mag release. It's actually pushing down on the mag release.

Makes sense to me. But it is stuff either way and might be due to bring new

I have 4 XD(M) pistols and I haven't noticed any excess pressure required to drop a magazine. I have Carpal Tunnel syndrome in my right hand real bad and I have to use my left hand to drop the mag. I push the release on the left side with my left thumb and have never noticed any stiff or excessive pressure required on any of the four pistols that I have. I would imagine that the release needs a good workout to loosen it up a bit.

Hey XD...

not a thing has been done to my XDM...doesn't need anything....Only thing I did was put the #1 grip panel in

Much different story on my XD however...but never any mag release problems...just a absolutely horrible trigger...which has been corrected with the trigger kit from Springer Precision..

On that XDM if it doesn't loosen up with a little use I'd send it to a smith...From what I learned doing my research,.Canyon Creek is one of the best on XDM's and XD's

my 2 cents

i have short fingers, so i tend to use my middle finger to release the mag, or thumb, but as you've said that's more difficult for you. mine was also very stiff at first, but has warn in with use, but as it only has 6-700 rounds or so through it, i'm expecting it to ease up even more, plus the more you play with it helps
