Shooters,

I wanted to give a little background info on this match first.

It all started with Jason and I thinking about how cool a shotgun only match would be. Well we talked with Brooke, David Martian, and Stephen Sandridge, and we threw around a ton of ideas. All were great, and we decided we would have to do it.

Well, I didn't want the shotgun match to have ICORE-type turnout. So, to have more than 10 people come, we knew we would have to make this match open to other guns.

So what targets can shotguns and pistols shoot??? STEEL!!!!

So we knew we had to do an all-steel match, and this match was the result of it.

looks like i gotta buy more shell carriers. how many is recommended? my shotgun holds 9+1. already have a taccom 8s2
Well, that's 17 on you already.

You'll notice the barrels there at all of the shooting positions. I am going to make "loading boards" that will hold 8 shells in an orderly and secure manner.

So you don't "need" any more. You don't "need" any really. But, if you want it wouldn't hurt to be able to carry 16 so you don't have to ever load from the barrels.

No, not this match. That was last weekend! (and basically every match except this ONE)

We won't be doing any transitions or dumps at this match. What you can do is shoot the whole thing twice. That's what I am doing and I assume many will do.

I am shooting once with pistol and once with shotgun. The whole match with each gun.

In 3Gun, we play by big boy rules. We only paint if the shooter requests it. You know if you hit it or not, and if you don't know, you better shoot again or it's a 10 second penalty. We don't argue with the ROs - what they say goes. We aren't gonna discuss whether you got half a bullet on the edge or if you only got 40% on there. Steel must fall to score, and if it doesn't, maybe the RO will call a hit on it for you, but if he doesn't, that's on you.

Point of that was to say that this match will go very quickly, and you will easily be able to shoot it twice. You shoot once, go put that gun down, help reset for a few shooters so you can catch your breath, and then you shoot your other gun.

So you could shoot it 3 separate times.

We aren't doing the transitions and multiple guns for a run because that slows things down and we are trying to keep this match moving so more people can shoot more guns.

Looks cool. Starting to wish I would have invested in a higher capacity shotgun.
I think mine is a 6+1 pump (Rem 870 tactical)
Well I don't think I can stress this enough, and I don't know why more people don't listen,

But please understand this - ANYBODY that has a shotgun will be more than happy to let you shoot it!!!

If you don't believe, I bet you $5 you can't find somebody that will even be apprehensive about letting you use theirs if they ask.

I even put on the registration form to ask every shooter that signs up if they want to borrow a shotgun and that way I will be sure to put them in a squad with at least one shotgun in it.

I did make the heavy shotgun division, and that was made so any and all pumps would be on a level playing and wouldn't have to compete with semis and box-feds. So there is a division for 870s and 500s.

But if you want to borrow a semi, you're MORE than welcome to!

I am going to try and make it, it has been too long since i have shot any match. Got to get back in the rhythm.
This one would be a great one to start back in on!

Reasonably simple stages (compared to what I usually design), no boring classifiers, and all steel. Easy to score and reset, because we only paint if the shooter wants it. You know if you hit a piece of steel or not, paint is just for people who like to argue.
