I was in Swann's yesterday at lunch and he had just gotten in a nice Marlin 1894 in .44 mag. It was made in 1973. The only negative thing on it was that someone had added a recoil pad. Don't know if they cut the stock or not. Price was $349. If it stays there long I'll have to take it home with me.

Mine is a 77 model and I adore it. Heard tell of lot of folks shooting cast in microgroove barrels. I think it would be ok.

And the recoild pad is appreciated. :)

I paid 300 out the door at a gunshow a year or so ago. I wouldn't sell mine for 350. No way no how. Its a great gun. I'd get it I were you. You would love it.

I shoot my cast bullets in mine and am please with the IRON sight accuracy I get. Heck, I shoot MUCH more LEAD than JACKET....

OH, and I am pretty sure I have the Micro-Groove barrel.

Edited to add: For the record, my lead bullet loads are mid-range velocity. I don't use gas checks.
