It's an 1895 guide gun in 45-70. About 1/3 of the time a cartridge will only come about halfway out of the magazine tube and get stuck there. You then have to use something to pry it out by pushing underneath the rim. Sometimes it will feed without a hitch. Doesn't seem to matter how hard/fast you cycle the lever. I have been using factory winchester ammo. The gun is basically brand new. Just thought I ought to get a real gunsmith to look it over before I try to "fix" it myself and make problems worse.
The loading gate may be loose. I've heard of this happening straight from the factory.
Go over it once and make sure everything is tight. And, if you're comfortable, strip it down and do the same thing. Check the loading gate specifically.
Agree with Will, and also would add that if it is new, I would consider contacting Marlin Customer Support.
However, if you can't fix it yourself, in order to answer your question:
Billy Tierce, 4050 Jack Rd., Utica, MS (601) 885-9297
He does the gunsmithing for many of the shops in Jackson. Why take it somewhere else and pay them a handling fee when you can go straight to the source?
Thanks for the info. I found that some of the screws had worked themselves a little loose. Hopefully that was the problem. Will be this weekend before I can test it out. If that didn't do it I may give Mr. Tierce a call. Thanks for the help.
