I notice Midway gets promoted on here quite a bit. Last week I ordered my first item from Midway. It was a Savage Mark II 10 round magazine. The magazine cost $14 and shipping was another $14. I know it doesnt cost $14 to ship a magazine. If that includes "handling" then if I have to pay their profits for their items, pay their employees too and unreasonable shipping then I think Ill take my business elsewhere. I went through with the order but I shouldnt have. I can only imagine what they would charge to ship a large order.

I order from them at least monthly, usually several items, around $100. Don't think I've ever paid more than $12.00 shipping for a good-sized box of stuff. Did you use "priority" of some type? UPS ground gets it here in two days.

If you didn't accidentally select the wrong thing then You should(have) called and politely pointed out that it couldn't have been right. I'm sure something could have been worked out. It's probably too late now.

I ordered H&R handi-stock from them. It costs me $8.75 shipping, ordered on friday afternoon got it on tuesday. I'm pleased with them.

When you check out, they ask for your zip and give you a list of options and what they cost. You just picked the wrong one Diamond Jim Tanker (JK, we all know what it feels like, no fun). It'll add value to your savage though, telling people it comes with a $28 mag.

You have to watch their system closely and make your decision accordingly. I ordered a couple of mags and a cheap holster a while back. The shipping on the 2 mags alone was $4.14 USPS, however when I added the $9 holster to the order, it went up to $12 and change. The holster alone was $14 and change. The only weight in my order was the mags, since the holster was an Uncle Mike's IWB that can't weigh more than an ounce, package and all. Needless to say, I let them keep the holster and I think they screwed themselves this time, instead of me.

Most of the time, I feel their shipping charges are more than reasonable, though. You want to see some screwy shipping charges, try Cheaper Than Dirt. They're always a crap shoot for me. They could have easily sold me a thousand dollars worth of junk, but have actually sold me well under a hundred. I hope they're making a good profit off their shipping.

I never paid more than $14 for anything and I've ordered up to $300. They charge you low rent shooters more since they only make a dollar off you two on the products (still poking fun, if I didn't like ya'll I wouldn't pick).

Took a look. The shipping was 9.95, the additional charge was for "Special Backorder Handling", 3.95.

Hadn't seen that, I'll think twice when they say "out of stock, back order ok". Well heck yeah it's ok if they are charging an extra 40% because they didn't have the item.

Depends on how bad I want an item or how hard it is to find locally

I usually choose the cheapest shipping method

I am sorta like 'Neck - always order more than 1 item --- even if I don't need it!! Shipping cost is always a good excuse to get more than you need!!

BTW: I never put anything on backorder with Midway - got caught on that once myself. I use the "alter" feature where they send me an email telling me it is back in stock. Also, do check their shipping options, they have gotten better on shipping charges over the past several years.

I just bought a holster from Midway last week and shippied via USPS Priority for $4.25. Got it in 4 days.

As mentioned, I bet there was a more economical shipping option in there somewhere.

Small orders run into this at MidwayUSA. I have had very fast delivery from them and I always order more than $25 worth of stuff if I order from them.

Special Handling Charge

I do order from Sears, and a lot from Amazon and most of their sellers have outrageous shipping. I order from a lot of places but I believe $14 for a $14 item is way out there. Best shipping there is is Musicians Friend (Free shipping on almost everything) and Tiger Direct. I also went with the cheapest shipping Midway offered, UPS Ground for 9.95. There was no option for USPS.

ive ordered over $14k worth of stuff from Midway over the years and their shipping always hurt so i kept adding stuff to the cart
Once you get up to the 300-400 range and use a promotion the shipping is "free".


Try Grafs.com they have free shipping over $50 right now. and regular its only $4.95 Flat fee.


We ship stuff from our office and UPS and USPS is outrageous right now, its goin up 1-2-2011 also.

Keep a "Wish List" with Midway. Watch it and only order stuff that's in stock. Use their shipping estimator to make see which items are jacking up your shipping charges. If the charges are excessive, sometimes it's cheaper to order somewhere else, or buy it local. Just a week or so ago they also made it possible to have multiple wish lists. It's complicated, but you can save significant $$ if you watch it closely and game the system a little bit.

i just placed a order for a supertuck through them(3-4 week wait through CB, less than a week through Midway, same price and warranty either way)...checked, double checked, and triple checked my shipping! it was already set on the cheapest option though. just under $5 shipping....or for next day it was about $50, for a $69 holster...guess which i chose???
