Well I can't be more proud of Miss Hammer than I am right now! She shot a 232 out of 250 on the AQT today. She didn't get to qualify for Rifleman though because she is unable to shoot in all 3 positions. Still though I'm beyond proud because she has worked her rump off for this and she scored amazingly well and out shot everyone today. Even having to shoot everything prone she is still scary accurate with a rifle. Thanks Tupelo Firearms for the rifle. Today was the first time she shot it and after a minor scope adjustment she blew everyone away.

I will post pics of her targets later. She has another long day of shooting ahead of her today. I love being a range mom instead of the typical soccer mom. She is learning so much from how to calm her nerves and focus and proper ways of shooting to responsibility for tending to her own equipment. I have watched her mature through shooting the Appleseed project shoots. She is learning so much.

Well Miss Hammer is consistent that's for sure. She shot 200 and up all day today on every AQT. They did a fun shoot and shot 2 inch tall plastic indians and "red coats" and she vaporized them all. She did have some hang ups, jams and miss fires today but I think a good cleaning will fix those issues.

Look at www.fredsm14stocks.com I think they sell the quick and dirty AQT on there and the instructions for each stage is on the target. Miss Hammer had to shooti it all prone cause her little 56 lb self can't support the rifle solely on her own but once we get sling mounts on it and the stock cut down to fit her we will start practicing on proper sling use in the proper standing, sitting and prone positions. Or go shoot an Appleseed. They teach you all the proper ways for each position and let you shoot the AQTs then the web site to order more is on the AQT itself. I will post pics. The appleseed shoots a course of fire that is a little more difficult than the instructions for the course of fire written on the AQT.

The course of fire the Apple seed uses is(all at 25 yards) : load 1 mag with 10 rounds then fire 10 rds standing for the first stage. You have 2 mins for stage 1. 2nd stage is 2 mags 1 loaded with 2 rounds 1 loaded with 8 from standing move to your sitting position load your 2 round mag shoot those 2 shots @ the first target change mags fire 3 more rounds at first target then fire your next 5 rounds in the 2nd target. You have 55 seconds for stage 2. 3rd stage load 2 mags like you just did on stage 2 then move from standing to prone load fire 2 rounds in first target, then change mags fire 1 round at first target the 3 rounds in 2nd target and 4 rounds in the third target. You have 65 seconds for stage 3 For 4th stage load 1 mag with 10 rounds from prone fire 2 rounds at first 2 targets then 3 rounds at the last 2 targets in 5 minutes.I will post pics of Miss Hammer's AQT for you to see.

My biggest problem would be remembering which target to shoot.

Sounds fun, though! I haven't yet found a shooting sport I didn't like. My favorite so far was the McCain shoot. I've never shot that far!

I may need to try this one. Can you use any type rimfire rifle?
