Dad gave me his 10/22 that he got with the AR556/10/22 promotion last year (or was it year before last?) so I finally got a 10/22, the first I’ve ever owned.
On 10/22 day I ordered a BX trigger and extended mag release as well as 2 BX25 magazines and I finally took it to the range the other day but I only used the magazines, I hadn’t installed the other parts.

I got home and the next morning I decided to install the trigger assembly and extended mag release and while I was doing that a bug bit me, I decided that a factory 10/22 is boring and I wanted to be able to suppress it, have a different stock, and put a scope on it.

Now a week later I have an ER SHAW bull barrel with a Bentz chamber, Magpul Hunter stock, Kidd extended bolt handle, tactical solutions scope base, and bipod on the way.
I also called up my cousin and asked him if he was finished with the scope that I let him borrow 2 years ago and he’ll be shipping it back to me next week when he comes back from Japan.
The scope will be a little overkill, it’s a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44 but it’s available so why not.

I’ll update with photos as it comes together.

A cousin of mine won a stock 10/22 at the annual Magnolia
R&P club membership meeting, the one where he ironically
first joined the club and a few years later gave the rifle to
me and your odyssey sounds a lot like my own. I went
a bit nuts making a definitely non stock one out of it with
all KIDD internals including barrel and since I had a
coupon for half off the MSRP of a Vortex product, I put
the 6-24x50MM Viper PST on it and as PhilipD said, you
can rarely have too much scope, its a handful but the
groups it will shoot!!!!!!!!!

Stock came in yesterday, barrel is supposed to be in today. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that the stud for the bipod is DIY so I gave to order the stud and tap for that also.

Everyone should have at least one 10/22 rifle, over the years I have had many of them from pure stock to Hot Rodded Out, great 22 rifles, but you can spend a lot of money on them very fast and one is never enough.
Im already looking at what type of build would look good with a laminate stock, there are so many options.

You can never haver too much scope
Correct, overkill maybe but not too much.
I think eventually I’ll get a Vortex Diamondback Tactical first focal plane even though the glass clarity won’t be as good it should still be plenty of scope.

That’s awesome! I’m hoping mine will be a good shooter with Geco or CCI Standard velocity, I just want it reliable and accurate enough I can use it to train precision shooting.
I wish I had the 6-24 instead of the 4-16 but 16 power should be plenty for out to 200.

Barrel came in so I got it installed as well as the scope base and put it in the stock.
I also installed the 3 lug for the suppressor so now I’m just waiting on the M-lock-bipod adapter, Kidd Bolt handle, Sling, M-Lock QD sling mount, and scope. I’ll likely also go ahead and get the raised cheek piece for the stock as well.

I customized a few...a few years back.
Sorry the pics aren't very good. My phone then didn't have a great camera.
One is the "Squad Leader" and the other is the "Chicago Typewriter".
It was fun to see what can be created...so have fun!

First range visit tonight, a few malfunctions but I think a few hundred rounds and some generous CLP would help it.
Trigger feels great and I’m really happy with the rifle overall.

I also got to try the Larue MBT S2 trigger in my SBR and I love it!
