I am looking at options for my next carry gun.

I looked at the CZ 75 Compact with and without the decocker and the P-01 (non Omega) today.

I really like the way they feel and am considering one of them for my next purchase. If I go with CZ, I am thinking a decocker may be what I want so I don’t have to fool with safeties. I have always been anti-safety for a carry gun, even though my current carry gun is a 1911.

I am also considering the G19 and 17, the Sig 365, M&P Compact and full size, and maybe even another XDM.

This is kind of my broad criteria, and will narrow it down as I go:
-I will get a 9mm.
-It will be worn OWB mostly, under a cover garment, when I go to town or church.
-I like a full size for capacity and sight radius. I am not against a compact, but I won’t buy a sub compact, as I already have guns for that purpose.
-I am not worried much about weight but don’t think I want a full size all steel gun for carry (hence the CZs being compact). My 1911 is fine weight wise but it would be nice if it was a little lighter.
-I want something that will run dependably. My 1911 is fairly dependable so far but my Glocks have all been trouble free (other than I can’t shoot worth a crap, so I struggle with Glock accuracy.)

Any others I should look at? Not a fan of Sig other than the 365 and 1911s, and probably won’t consider Walther.

I have a Shadow, my 1911, and an old S&W 915 (hammer gun), but have also fired a lot of different striker fired guns, so I think I’d be good with either.

I’ve heard some say the CZs are picky about ammo, and others say they run very reliably. I am a little concerned about all the parts I hear the CZs have, as it seems they are more complicated than

Hard to beat the simplicity of the Glocks. I seemed to shoot my XDMs pretty well. Decisions. Decisions.

I had similar concerns: wanting a double-stack 9, but not wanting to give up the single action of a 1911.

It's a bit bulky for toting, but the transition to a SIG P2229 Legion SAO was quite easy and natural. It is slightly bulkier than my Colt Officer Model 45. It's a tad pricey, too, but came with the options that I likely would have added anyway.

See I just can’t get excited about the Sigs. My dad has a 226, and i just don’t care for it.

Didn’t realize it was a subcompact. Thought it was the size of the 19.
Not exactly sure either but know it's thinner and less round count.

I don’t know what i was thinking. They were made to compete with the G43, weren’t they?
Yeah maybe so.

Not knocking sigs, they're solid guns. They just have a much higher bore axis that I don't particularly prefer.
The CZs are a lot more complicated internally than glocks. So if going to be customizing any I'd definitely go with Glock.

So my answer would be Glock 19.
If going to be moving around any and in and out of vehicle I pick the 19 for maneuverability. Little bit smaller size over the 17 but still high capacity and can carry a G17 spare mag. Spare/after market parts abound and are easy to install and range from cheap to high end super expensive. It's rugged and not gonna hurt to get beat and scuffed around.

You can always get the slide kit from brownels to build a G17 slide and a G19 frame.

While you say you're not interested in Sigs other than the 365, I'd recommend not looking past either a Sig P320 compact or an M-11A1 (though it is heavier). They are both amazing guns and accurate as all get-out.

I believe I’ll ride over to Boondocks and rent a few one Saturday.
If ever make it down here you're more than welcome to run my sig M17, CZ, and some of my glocks. And my beretta M9A3. Which is also a fine choice. I may can even borrow my buddies 365xl And his full size legion.

Or do like me and chop a G17 grip to G19 length.Replacement frames can be had for around $100 sometimes less.

The CZ-75 compact in all steel is a heavy gun if you look in that direction look for an alloy frame. The weight isn't bad and it makes all the difference. Don't care for their plastic guns nearly as much and although the triggers can be made decent they aren't as good as the metal framed guns. Not a fan of either the Glock or XDs but the S&W M&P compact is a great little gun with a trigger that is hands down better than either of the others. The Tisas BR-9 (Hi-Power clone) is another option. It is a full size but for some the fit just works for them. Something to think about. I can tell you they are well made and fit n finish is way above the $500 price point.

All that said; if it was ME; I'd opt for the M&P compact. Can be made very comfortable with the interchangeable back-straps and to me anyway are better shooters than the Glock. If going striker fired I think they are the way to go.
