...from the frame on my 1911. This is the first problem I've had with this gun aside from grip bushings not cooperating but that was no biggie. I'm thinking that a drop or two of loctite will fix this problem so long as I dont get any in the plunger tube...or in the frame. Before I got myself into this I thought i should ask the folks with experience about it so I didnt mess anything up since this is my first time dealing with plunger tubes.

The plunger tube is staked in. Don't know if loctite will hold it in place if the tedons have streached enough for the plunger tube to be loose. I would take it to gunsmith and get it re-staked. :2c:

It is staked in place and will have to be restaked to fix.

I'm in Tishomingo County and can fix it, or a local smith near you can.

Don't know how far away you are.
I'm in tupelo...not sure where tishomingo county is.

How much is this going to run me to have it re stake? I'm pretty much broke right now but this is my carry weapon so I need to get this sorted out soon

SGMJody restaked mine. It is a fine line on whether there is enough to restake. I don't know how much a new tube costs. Mine only needed restaking.

BeauBeaux is good, too! If it can be fixed, he will fix it. He helped me put my AR together.

I did some inspecting and it appeared that the grip inserts I had on there were creating a gap between the grip panels and the plunger tube, I removed the inserts thus closing the gap and holding the tube in place rather well (no noticable clearance for the tube to move) I still want (need) to restake it but the situation isnt as dire anymore

You want directions to BeauBeaux's place?

It's been a while, but I think you drive north and take the exit to nowhere. When you get to nowhere take a right and keep driving to BFE, then it's another right to "Is that banjoes I hear?"

Stay with it, you're almost there!

IF you get past the banjoes, he's the first mailbox on the left.

JBPMidas has it about right.

It's the house with the black helo's circling. Well, they have been here the last couple days anyway.

Takes longer to disassemble/reassemble than the fix. Shouldn't be more than $40.00 at shop around Tupelo. Probably cheaper than the drive except for getting to meet another board member.

That way you won't have to keep one eye on my neighbor. He's ok just most folks don't know what's up when he asks ["can you squeal like a pig" ?].
