I can't speak for him, but have been jones'n after an M1A for a while now. I have the thought of suppressing it eventually, and one downside to the SOCOM is the muzzle break is proprietary to help tame recoil. Meaning when you take it off... This is all heresay according to the web so worth what you paid for it. I'm hoping to stumble across one of the 'Scout' length rifles.cottondoctor said:Nice job. I have no experience with the 16 inch in 308. What is the recoil like? What about muzzle blast? A serious question here, in reality, just how much handier is the Socom 16 inch than a standard M-1A? Is the handiness worth the reduced velocity, increased muzzle blast etc.??? I have been thinking about getting a Socom 1. Or maybe taking a couple inches off the barrels of one on my M1-A standards. Opinions please.
