I'm on my first bolt-action that I've really reloaded for. I've gotten used to reloading for gas guns for the past couple of years. Anyway, I've been only handloading for my Savage FLCP-K since I bought it. I am using LC '87 brass that I full length sized the first time and have been neck sizing since. I am neck sizing with a Forster Bushing Bump neck die and have been loading some very accurate ammo that I am shooting F-class with. During the f-class shoot yesterday I had 2 of my cases fail to extract and had to knock them out with a cleaning rod. So, I'm guessing I'm due for some sizing. Now, when I reloaded this brass the other night I only neck sized and checked all brass in a wilson case gauge. Every piece dropped right in and right out of the case gauge. Does this sound like a case sizing problem like I am thinking it is, or is it something else? Also, should I go with a full length sizer or like a redding body sizer and still use my neck sizer? This will mainly be ammo that I am shooting f-class with. I am open to suggestions. P.S. the only .308 full length dies I have right now are a Lee Pro and a Forster .308win(National Match)

well my 2 cents is i was always told to full length size every time. my savage 12 has always loved it. i have neck sized before in a pinch. never had a stuck case. my loader is a lee single and lee dies. would like to do some f class, need a longer range and TIME

Probably time to trim to length. I suspect that the brass has expanded beyond it limits and needs to be trimmed back to minimum specs. If the brass is to be fired in the SAME rifle, then neck sizing saves wear and tear on the brass and you can possibly get 4 or 5 more reloads out of each piece of brass before the brass fails.

Got any signs of pressure? Are your primers slightly flattened or real flat? My Nosler rel. man. shows how to measure cases at the web to determine your loads pressure vs factory. Trim cases to length after first or second firing.

i clean the barrel and chamber every time i shoot it... It has to be do for a body or full length size, but I don't understand why all of the brass I neck sized the last time would slide right into and out of the wilson case gauge and then stick in the rifle. Granted, I shot 75 rounds or so the other day and only 2 stuck, but each time i would shoot it would take a decent amount of effort to open the bolt. Sometimes I would have to hit the bolt handle at the end of it's travel with my palm to get it to fully release. Also, I haven't had any problems closing the bolt like I usually see when people are in need of a full length sizing. The bolt is closing just fine.
