Planning to mount it on a Ruger Charger that'll be used at the range and possibly for small game hunting, if legal. Don't think I want to just pick up the cheapest thing I can find, but hope not to break the bank, either. Hoping to find something in the $50 range that would be OK up to 100 yds. I'd like to find this locally, if possible, but would get it online if it was a better deal or better scope. If I didn't need 2 of these, I might opt for a better scope, but my budget is somewhat limited.

For years I've used a simmons prohunter 2-6x32 scope on my TC's and dan wesson. Never had any issues with it. These days they are about $125. Can't say the same for their spotting scopes though. Nikon is a good choice too.

In my experience with scopes you usually get what you pay for. A $50 scope in all likelihood will not hold zero consistently; but may not be an issue with a .22 cal.

Well, I wound up with a couple of BSA sights from Natchez. One is a holographic and is on my gun now. Haven't sighted it in yet, but it seems OK. I also bought a 42mm BSA red dot that I'll try, if the first one doesn't work out or breaks. I tested a nice high dollar 2X EER scope on a gun in a shop and didn't think it would work for me at all. I couldn't seem to keep the picture. Seemed like very little shake or movement caused it to go black. Needless to say, I probably won't be hunting with my new Charger, but I think it'll still be a fun plinker with what I've got. I considered spending more, but really couldn't justify it on such a limited use gun. I don't think that empty beer can will attack me, if I miss.:)

I did learn one thing, though. Don't ask about scopes or sights on any message board, because they are so subjective. What works great for you might prove absolutely useless to me. There is no right answer. You have to go out and test them yourself, because I can almost guarantee that you'll get very little useful info from others. Other than all the high @$$ with more money than sense telling you something stupid like spend an equal amount on a scope as you did the gun. Don't know why, but that concept sounds absolutely absurd to me. I guess it depends on how much you actually have to depend on the gun, but I suspect it's more of pissing contest than anything else. Anyways, I do appreciate the tips and the fact that no one here got carried away with thier advice for my "plinker".

Hrdnox, Hope the holo sight works for You. I never have tried one of them. I do have a leupold/gilmore redot on my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44mag. and like it. Let us know how You like the holo sight. :sunny:
Will do and I appreciate your help on this.:) Additionally, my comments weren't aimed at anyone here. I recieved useful advice here, but got much useless bunk on other boards. Nothing useful at all, but everyone was trying to outdo each other. I'm sure you know what I mean. I understand the concept of quality scopes well suited for the job at hand, but I never even considered paying $300 for a scope for a plinker. To be honest, I might have been better off in the long run spending more, but the sights I bought weren't cheap at retail. The holo sells most places for $60-70 and the red dot sells for around $50. Natchez had both on sale and I got both for a grand total of $55. Figured that was cheap enough to experiment a little, since I still didn't really know which I'd like best. If one rises to the top and I find the gun more useful than I thought, I might upgrade at some point in time. The holo does seem to work pretty well, though, in all light conditions. I guess the truth will be weather or not it's adjustable and holds center. I read a lot of good reports on it, but I also read some that were pretty dismal. Seemed some were prone to having the lens come loose on some applications. Mostly higher caliber, but a couple on .22s, as well. The thing is aluminum and seems to be pretty well built, but only time will tell. For $35, I don't figure I'll be entitled to complain too much.

I think I'm gonna like this BSA holographic sight, if it holds up. Used it today out in the bright sun and didn't have any trouble seeing it at all. You have to get used to centering it on the glass, but that comes fairly easily. Seemed easier still with both eyes open. I'm afraid I'm a little shakey for any precision shooting with this particular gun, but my groups were passable.

Had a few growing pains with the gun and ammo, but the gun straightened out nicely and I think it will perform well once I determine what it likes to eat. Sid, if you'd like to try it out, you're more than welcome to. I don't think it's a hunter, but it is unique and fun to shoot. I think I could have any novice up to speed with it in short order.

Took my G26 with me today and I like it better each time I shoot it. Don't know why, but I'm deadly with it. I sold the CT and replaced it with a Pachmyer grip sleeve. Shoots just the same for me. Wasn't sure it would, since that CT filled in the space under the dovetail, but I really can't tell any difference in shooting it. It has quickly become my favorite gun, as well as everyone else's who's shot it. Don't know why it would be any different than any other Glock, but it just naturally points so well and is a comfortable pleasure to shoot. I believe I could shoot it all day, if I could afford to. Even at a box or two at a time, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.:)

Hi Captain. I shoot up at Turcotte. The price fits my budget well, since I'm exempt on the WMA permit. It's closer to my house than other ranges and only costs me a couple of bucks worth of gas and the ammo to shoot. I really like all the folks that run it, too. They have had to reel me in a time or two, but were always courteous in doing so. No serious infractions, just shooting a little too fast with a rimfire. I'm only about 15 minutes away, so I can go on a whim and do quite often. My only complaint is they're not open Mon thru Wed and that's not really a biggie.

I've been wanting to check out Magnolia and see some of you folks shoot. Been invited by a couple of members here, but we haven't been able to get our schedules together yet. I can tell from the pictures posted here that it's a very nice facility and I figure I'll get a chance to check it out soon. I enjoy outdoor ranges and it looks like you folks have an excellent one down there that's had a lot of thought put into it's design. I'd consider joining myself if it wasn't so far from my house and on the other side of Jafrica. I try to avoid that drive as much as possible.:) I do enjoy reading the reports from there posted here, though.
