Picked up a new Kimber Tactical Pro II today, Took to the range and boy did it show off. First mag at 15yds. was holding a good 2" group. and just got better from there. Nite sights were bright while in low light also. Looks to be a good carry gun as planned.

KImber Raptor 2

This is another one from the custom shop, had a friend over at thre range to look at it because he was wanting one. Pulled from box and first 3 at 25 made a clover leaf, Sold him one that day. I don't understand people with Kimber problems, I have never had the first to give a problem and I have 3.
I'll stand behind them and I pac them!!

My compact cdp II had some reliability issues, along with a broken thumb safety, but Kimberly fixed both and were great about it, so you'll never hear me bad mouth them as long as they keep that up.

The Kimber "Custom Shop" gets widely maligned on the internet (by non-Kimber folks, usually) because Kimber is fairly liberal in their use of the term "Custom Shop" on their firearms. While Springfield generally reserves that title for some of their nicest iron, Kimber will brand every CDP, etc. with the logo.

I think Kimber's line generally delivers great value for the price point, but am not so much a fanboy that I think they're the be-all, end-all of 1911 manufacturers. Their status as the #1 producer of production 1911 pistols also has the baggage of having the most complaints, which makes sense to me. My guess is that, given the opportunity, the other production 1911 makers would gladly swap places with Kimber.

Exactly! They do have a custom shop...but the custom shop on the slide is more of a line or family of pistols than anything.

I once heard a salesman at vans convince a guy who knew nothing about guns that a Kimberl(I forget the model) was built entirely in a custom shop...blah blah blah. Boy was he pissed at me when I pointed out the rust on the barrel to the potential buyer.
