I read that Hornady would be releasing their Superformance powder to reloaders. Anyone else heard this?

They also have a new "Monoflex" bullet for the .45-70. It is actually part of their Leverevolution line. It is a GMX bullet with the Flex Tip. They are offering it in 250gr. in .458 diameter. Can't wait for this one to come out!

Wouldn't you know they'd release that cool .458 bullet after I just developed a great load for my .45-70, and then I went out and bought a lifetime supply of components for it! Arggh. Back to the drawing board...

I'm using 350 gr Hornady roundnose. Haven't checked it for groups yet, but I've got about 8" drop at 200, so I feel good with it!

Next Saturday will be my day. I'll be at State Fire Academy all week.

That's cool. I've considered doing something with those round nose bullets. I suspect they're a good bit tougher than these Remingtons I'm using.

I was just checking my zero today, and looking at .45-70 ballistics to confirm my trajectory. Anyway, it looks like you're probably close to 3 inches high between 75 and 100 yards, and then back at zero around 150 yards. That'll put venison on the table man!

SUPERFORMANCE POWDER

I was looking at the Superformance Powder for loading my 35 Whelen, from what I see it will be about March 2011 when this becomes available. You might have figured it would be after all seasons so the dealers can sell as much pre-loaded ammo as possible.
I am looking forward to this along with the opportunity to buy one of the new Volume Eight Handbooks from Hornady.
