Fellas I am getting a44 super blackhawk for hunting whitetail would this be a good start with powder 2400 bullets KEITH CAST 240GR. I want a good round probably be shooting 50 to 60 yards till I get the hang of it. I want a bullet with some thump to it and one that makes a good wound channel.

bobo i use IMR or VV for my 44. I know alot of people that use 2400 with great success

Thanks I will write this down. Nice gun. I have been wanting to get in to hangun hunting for some time now. Most of my shots on deer are probably well within range and it would be alot easier to tote one of these versus a long gun.

i am a firm believer if you wanna start handgun hunting never take your rifle with you. VV family of powders are not the cheapest but they are clean burning and are friendly with lead

Hey Bobo.... Did the 44cal 255gr Keith bullets arrive today?

Just wanted to know what you think of them.

My plinker load is 6.0gr of Promo because I don't care to have the $hit kicked out of me every time I pull the trigger.......

This ammo fits fine in my S&W 29 and J. P. Sauer & Sohn S.A. revolvers.

I would think if you get those puppies flying between 1200 & 1400fps, they would knock the crap out of a deer. I suggest you not exceed 1400fps by much or you might start getting barrel leading since they are not gas check bullets.

IIRC... My 6.0gr of Promo gets about 900fps in the revolvers.....

With that bullet I'd go 21.0 grains of 2400 and a CCI 350 Magnum large pistol primer.

Just notes from the olden days when I sent a tremendous number of .44 Mag ammo downrange with a Super Blackhawk.
