Next Camp McCain shoot I will be ready for the Green Army men.

Got my Blackthorne M4 kit and Double Star lower put together today. First AR I have ever owned and first one to build. Went together fairly easy, I only lauched a couple of springs across the room, :lol4: Never did find the buffer retainer spring but I found some measurements online for it and I had a spring out of an hydraulic valve I had in the shop that was the same size(good thing I am a pack rat), might be a little stiffer but it should work till I get the right spring.

Now got to got to the range an get it sighted in.

Awesome! I "built" mine also. There's a definite sense of pride to shooting one you built. What is that rear sight?

It's a cheap A2 UTG makes got it from CTD. I got a MaTech folding rear sight on the way for it.

What barrel did you use BubbaT?

I used a Daniel Defense chrome lined 1-7". I found it on sale for $169.95. Make sure you get a 5.56 barrel.

My gun will shoot inside 2" at 200 yards from the lead sled.

The kit came with everything but the lower, it's a 5.56 16" barrel with 1/9" twist. Their website says their barrels are made by Mossburg or Wilson and the uppers are built by LMT or LAR but you can not choose either.

Yeah Bubba-T, I suggest you lube it REAL GOOD and fire at least 200rds to break it in. New ARs can be stiff until the park gets worn down some. Plus you need to make sure the 3 gas rings on the bolt are NOT lined up, and the gas key on the carrier is TIGHT and staked. Also, check the extractor and ejector to make sure they are not too stiff.

Check the parts..... Lube it GOOD.... Shoot 200rds+ in 2 hours.... Bring tools.....

Didn't get to the range till today. Lubed it up good. Forgot my rest. But shot four 5 shot groups anyway. Got it sighted. Put another 50 rounds through it. No problems at all. Going back tomorrow with rest to fine tune iron sights. Me likey these black rifles.

Bubba-T..... DON'T baby that AR. Shoot 3 - 30rds mags in under 5 minutes. You need to find out if it can handle it..................

PS: If you "zeroed" at 25 YARDS..... Then you wasted ammo. That target MUST be set at 25 METERS. The 10% difference makes a BIG difference.

We always zeroed at 36 meters. It's the equivalent to 300 meters apparently. I need to get to a range to zero my AR as well. I'm going to see what I can find up here in VA

7 feet really makes that much of a difference? Well I needed an excuse to go back and shoot tomorrow anyway(with a tape measure)... :lol:
