Just curious:

Does anyone ever shoot the old-timey pistol matches anymore? You know, one-handed, mostly just-for-accuracy type shooting the way they used to do "back in the day".

Seems like the action shooting type events have overtaken all the pistol competition and I was just wondering if the old style matches were even held anymore.

Talk to Doug Bowser. I believe they shoot Bullseye in McComb at the Southwest Gun Club, but I didn't see it listed on the schedule in a quick look: http://swgc.tripod.com/

There is also NRA Action Pistol, which is more accuracy based and, ironically, less "action" than say a USPSA/IPSC or IDPA match, which many refer to as "combat" type matches. NRA Action Pistol is shot mostly with two hands and at ranges out to 50 yards. It includes shooting from behind a barricade, at plates, and on a moving target, but all shooting is done from a stationary position.
