Good looking old 98 Mauser indeed, is that a vintage
Bishop stock on it, reminds me of one I owned with one
back in the 1960s. Those scope mounts remind me of
some older Tasco clone mounts of an early Weaver.

Yes sir, it’s a bishop, I was impressed with the wood. Debating on refinishing it but it’s in fair shape but looks like The wood isn’t sealed at all. Someone attempted to glass bed it but there’s a lot of space between barrel and wood. That’s got to be fixed. The mounts were modified and then I did more because rear mount was sitting higher than the front one, had to trim screws so bolt would clear. now I think a one piece mount will work better.
Going to install a timney trigger first .
I’ve got to do all this as funds come available so maybe just before next deer season I’ll have it ready, will post progress if y’all would like to see.
