I have come to the conclusion that my eyes aint what they used to be. I have been building a "hawg gun". A 44 mag marlin 1894. I like lever guns cause they are short and fast and I chose 44 mag cause it packs a major punch at the ranges I will be hunting, it holds 10+1 rounds, and I had one in my safe already. :D

Well I started with a peep sight and just couldn't get it dialed in. It sat up too high and I couldn't get the correct front sight. I decided I'd scope it when I had the money so I pulled it and ordered a barrel mounted peep from skinner sights. This sight is much better but my eyes just need something better. I had hoped to at least use the barrel mounted peep for a backup but that may not work out now cause I can't get focused with it.

So I've been readin and thinkin. For a good fast handling sight what about a holographic sight (eotech type thing) mounted on a rail up top?

It would be fast handling, like the gun, and have great field of view.

I would want a tiny one, much like the pistol sized ones almost. Sure don't want the jumbo full sized ones. To me that looks silly on a levergun. But what kind to buy?

What yall using and what yall like?

Bass pro has a BSA, but are they any good? Hmmm...

The peep I have has an apature the same as the LPAs that grizzly uses so I would be in the same bot with them. I'm thinking of the holographic because of the better field of view and illuminated dot for night/ low light shooting. I like the looks of the LPAs on the leverguns. The small holo's look real similar sitting on top of a levergun.

Randy. Try to stay away from a tube style setup on there. Thanks tho

Have you looked at the Burris Fastfire? It's compact. I've got one mounted on an AR and one on a Glock 20. I've had no problems with then.

Yes, that's the Glock 20 in my signature picture with the Burris Fastfire on it. I always use it with both eyes open. They also make a protective mount for it that has metal plates on the side to keep it from being damaged. Truglo and Trijicon make one very similar to this also.
